| The Story |
| In ancient time, the world was protected by beings known as Angels, whom walked the earth in human guise. This masking of their true forms and acting as humans was know as shadow. The Angels lived in secrecy, allowing only those chosen few to know of their existence. These few were known as Crusaders, and were humans gifted with magical powers of the elements. The Angels protected the humans from the race of Oni, or demons. The demons had been there as long as the angels, but had no reason to attack. The beings of that world lived peacefully for many years. However, one day the Oni learned of the existence of the Tsuyosa, a scroll which bestowed great power upon the one whom possed it. The Angels had worked to keep the scroll hidden from the Oni, and now that the Oni knew about it, they rose in great numbers to steal it from the angels. The Angels were forced to reveal themselves, emerging from the shadow to protect the Tsuyosa from the Oni. The Angels were aided in their endeavor by the Crusaders. The races battled for hundreds of years as the Tsuyosa remained hidden. Several of the Angels left the side of good to join the Oni, believing they would win and wanting to share in the power. They became known as the Fallen Angels, those who now walk the dark path. On one day during the wars, a member of the Oni stumbled upon the Tsuyosa in it's hiding place, and took it forth. The theft of the scroll led the two races to one final battle, the one which would determine all. Both sides had suffered heavy losses, but the loss the Angels and Crusaders had was far greater than that of the Oni. However, in that final battle, the Angels and Crusaders managed to retrieve the scroll and seal the Oni in another dimension. In that moment, the Tsuyosa was split into four pieces, and each piece was delivered into one of the four lands of Nen, Chikaku, Amatsu, and Edan by Angels too wounded to survive for long and so had volunteered for this last service. After those four died, none knew where the pieces of the scroll were hidden. Now, a thousand years later, the Oni have managed to escape their prison and return to this world to destroy the Angels and take back the Tsuyosa. They have had a thousand years to prepare, so have an organized military. The people of the world believe the Angels to be legend, as they hid themselves from all in shadow after the battle, attempting to regain their numbers. Though they have tried to grow, their kind is still few. They must call upon the Crusaders to come to their aid once again, though there is a complication this time. The Angels stopped associating with all humans, so the Crusaders have lost the knowledge of their abilities over the long period of time. Eight Angels have been selected from amoung their kind to find the remaining Crusaders and tell them of their power so they can be aided in their new battle. They know that there are a total of sixteen crusaders, four of each of the four elements. Therefore, two have been dispatched to each of the lands to find the four Crusaders in each land as well as the section of the scroll in that land, that it might be protected. Each party of Crusaders/Angels has one of the four Oni generals to deal with, as one has been sent to each land. To drive back the Oni, they must kill the Generals that command them. Their goal? To save their world as they know it. It's up to the players to decide their fate. |
