Monday-Thursday: Math sheet and read for 20 minutes each night.
Additionally:
Monday
I will provide your child with a business size envelope. You do not need to place a stamp on the envelope. With your assistance, your child will choose and address the letter to someone they would like to write to. We will write the letter in class. If your child has difficulty coming up with people to write to do not forget businesses, sports figures, etc. The skill expectancy is to address an envelope and write a friendly letter.
Please use the following format:
FIRST and LAST NAME For example: MAUD P BRULAND
STREE NUMBER and NAME 123 N HAMMOND LN
CITY, STATE (Abbreviation) ZIP HENDERSON, NV 89015
Tuesday
A phonics activity sheet will be sent home. The skill expectancy is to use phonics to read fluently and to determine the meaning of unfamiliar words in context.
Wednesday
Tonight’s activity can include the whole family! Your child will bring home a “Think About It!” question. Although there are correct answers to these questions, I encourage you to brainstorm with your family and write down any answers you feel could be correct. This develops research skills and creative thought. Your child will be provided with the correct answer on Thursday, and you can see how close your answers were or if they were, correct. Please respond in the writing notebook.
Thursday
Students will be given a “rather” writing prompt such as “would you rather swim with dolphins or sharks?” Please have your child write for 5 minutes on the given prompt in the writing notebook. Parent’s and students should review the written work, making corrections where needed. I encourage parents or older siblings to respond as well, as the students enjoy hearing other responses.
