Insanity By Phone

Brian dialed the familiar number and let in ring….and ring…..and ring

Nick heard his cell phone and scanned the room for it, unable to locate it he collapsed back onto his bed concluding that whoever was calling would hang up soon.

Brian took a bite of his chicken 45 minutes later still clutching the phone to his ear.

“Your gunna get brain cancer if you keep that up, why don’t you just go upstairs?”

“No offense, Mrs. Carter, but if I know Nick you have to break him down slowly, and he should be getting pretty frustrated by now. By the way this is wonderful chicken.”

“AHHHHHHH!! WHERE’S THAT DARN PHONE!!!!!!!”  Nick threw his dirty laundry around in an attempt to find it, “Gotcha!” he smiled in triumph and turned the ringer off, throwing it onto his end table he went back on to his bed in deep thought however this state of mind was short lived once he turned over just to focus on the darn blinking light on his phone. In aggravation he picked up the phone and shoved it under his pillow so not to disturb him anymore.

10 minutes later

Nick tossed in his bed and peered under his pillow for the hundredth time in a mix of confusion, annoyance and curiosity to see the phone’s little red light pulsing as if it was laughing back at him.

“FINE!” he screamed

Everyone below who was enjoying their dessert looked up at the recent sign of life from above. Brian smiled and nodded as he heard Nick pick up the phone, he opened his mouth to say something when he heard a click. Aparently Nick had decided to hang up on him.

Brian sighed and redialed

Nick grinned with satisfaction, he had beat the evil phone. He laughed slightly but then feel silent as the little red light began to blink at him again. “NO!!!!!!!!!”

Again everyone’s attention turned to the screaming Backstreet Boy above and Brian waited patiently. In a moment there was a click, and Nick screamed from the other end of the phone, “WHAT DO YOU WANT!?!”

Brian laughed, “Nick nice to hear from you to.”

“BRAIN?”

“That’s me, the one and only!”

“UHHH! You were driving me insane!”

“That was the idea.”

“I’m gunna hang up now.”

“No, don’t! I was just wondering what was up with you?”

“Nothing.”

“How’s Anastasia?” Brian asked casually *click*

“Darn. He hung up.” Brian explained to the rest of the silent family

Brian pressed redialed and waited again but this time he only had to wait two rings, “BRIAN!”

“Yes?”

“UHH!”

Brian got up from the table and started his way to Nicks room, “So ummm…what happened?” he asked carefully

There was silence for a moment and at first Brian was sure he had hung up again, but then he heard a long sigh.

“Nick?” he gently knocked on the door

Nicks head shot up and his attention turned to the door, “Brian?”

“What?”

“Are you outside my door?” he hoped he didn’t sound stupid

“Yeah…ya wanta open up and talk?”

Nick hung up the phone and slowly unlocked the door, “Come in…”

“And so I go it there, so certain she’d feel the same way. But then she says she’s getting married!” Nick paused and sighed, “I can’t believe I was that stupid, I completely forgot about that jerk Adam.”

Brian nodded and listened quietly, “Well, at least she’s happy.”

Nick looked up, “What do you mean by that?!” Nick snapped

“Well if you love her so much, then you should be happy that she’s happy…ya know?”

“Uhhhh…but she would have been happier with me…”

“We’ll the girls getting married, there’s not much you can o about that.”

“You’re right…it’s just…even though I just really met her a few weeks ago…there was like this connection, ya know? She was like no one I had ever met. And when I kissed her…it was…it was like magic. Like everything in life was right….” his voice trailed off, “I never had that feeling before, when I’m around her, I just don’t want to loose it.”

“Well all I can say it everything happens for a reason.”

Nick smiled a bit and something clicked, he could sulk around forever. If Anastasia and him weren’t meant to be then he was supposed to be with someone. He stood up, “Thanks, Brian…do we have anymore dessert?”

Brian laughed that was Nick for ya.
