Barney’s Christmas and Boxers
Nick dropped Anastasia off around three and then, after the jewelry store, made the 2 hour drive to Mandy’s parents house to drop off Mandy. The next time he’d see her would be New Years Eve at Aj’s big bash. Personally he could wait he had a lot of thinking to do.
Anastasia got home and helped Anne and Joe to keep the kids quiet as Caitlin and Laura Anne were sleeping which was a task in itself. They ordered out Chinese and watched Barney’s Christmas special until Mint began to cry because her plate feel on the floor with caused Chocolate to burst into tears as well. This waking up the baby sending every adult in the house to tend to a child. Once everyone was in bed and the house was quiet Anastasia dialed up Adam.
“Hello?”
“Adam, it’s me…”
“Annie! I thought I would never hear from you again!”
“Well, Caitlin went into labor yesterday and everything was in an uproar.”
“Talk about a Christmas present, what did she have?”
“A girl, she named it Laura Anne.”
“Cute, listen, I got to go. Call me later and we can talk about New Years. You’re coming to see me right?”
“Yeah…” she smiled
“Good, well I love you Annie.”
“I love you, too.”
“She beat you at bowling?” Brian asked
Nick smiled, “Yeah…”
“You like her.”
“Huh?”
Brian rolled his eyes Nick was his best friend but the boy could be so stupid at times, “You like Anastasia.”
“Me…no way.”
“Nick face it, you can’t stop taking about her. You called me up, didn’t even ask how I was, just start going into Anastasia this. Anastasia that.” He paused, “Not that I mind she’s a whole lot better than that Mandy.”
“What’s wrong with Mandy?” he asked defensively
Brian sighed, “Nick, she totally uses you, you’re just to blind to recognize it. I mean before you know it she won’t even be happy with the gifts you give her, she’ll only want more.”
Nick coughed slightly, “I got to go. Talk to you later.”
“Think about what I said.”
“Bye.”
“Bye.”
The next day:
“Nick?” His mother called down the hall, holding the phone to her chest, “Nick?” She opened his door slightly and a muffled snore greeted her. She laughed slightly and put the phone to her ear, “I’m sorry dear, Nick’s not yet up. Who may I ask is calling?”
“Tell him its Anastasia, for me please.”
“Oh my! Anastasia? I didn’t realize it was you!”
Anastasia smiled, “Hello, Mrs. Carter.”
“Nick has been talking nonstop about you, I’m sure he wouldn’t want to miss your call, should I wake him up?”
“No, don’t worry it was nothing important.”
“Nonsense, I know! Why don’t you come over here for dinner? I would love to see you again and I’m sure Nick wouldn’t mind, at all.”
“Well…”
“I won’t take no for an answer, be here at 5. I’m sure my son will be up in 3 hours.”
Anastasia laughed, “Alright, I’ll see you then.”
4:15
“NICKOLAS CARTER!! GET UP!” Nick’s mother pulled off the bed sheets on a very startled Nick.
“Huh?”
“NICK GET! We are having company!”
“MOM!!” Now awake and aware of what was going on he grabbed a sheet to cover himself embarrassed to be seen in his boxers in front of his mother.
“Nick, I used to bathe you, get over it.” She said proceeding to his closet she opened it up and started pawing through his clothing.
“Mom, what are you doing?”
“You would think that a Backstreet Boy would have half way
decent clothing, maybe you can borrow something of Kevin’s he’s about your
size…” her voice trailed off
“Umm…Mom?”
“What?” she turned her attention to her eldest
“Could you umm…explain?” he said gesturing towards her
“Oh, yes, I invited Anastasia over for dinner.”
“OH, What! Oh my gosh…what time is it?” he leaped out of bed now not caring about his mother and dashed into the bathroom.
She laughed, “She’ll be over in about a half an hour, now hurry boy!” she closed the bathroom door and smiled to herself, that was her son.
