I’m playing SquirrelPrison in the Bring Your Own Block-format played at the Invitational 2000. I didn’t have much time to build a deck for that format so I just grabbed my UBC SquirrelPrison, which I’ve played with before on multiple occasions. This is a log of the 3rd round of an iMagic Qualifier in the channel #itourney on IRC.
My opponent Joe played a mono green stompy deck. I won game 1 due to having Opposition and some Elves to tap his weenies while attacking with my Treetop Villages. He played a Phyrexian Processor due to my fault not tapping his land in upkeep. I could have tapped 2 out of his 4 lands but just because I was lazy or something I didn’t do it cause he only had 1 card in hand and I thought he only had 1 or 2cc spells and creatures, which he should be able to play with 2 land anyway. But well, I still won :D
Second game he won very close. At the end of the game I had like 6 lands and a Masticore and a Treacheried Albino Troll. He had another Troll. I was at 2 he at 7 and his Troll was tapped due to my regenerate-forcing pinging at the end of his turn. So I attacked with both figuring it would do 7 damage to his head, but then he played Simian Grunts to block my troll :P And the turn after he mised me with the Troll and Grunts :P
After that, I gathered my courage thinking a mono green creature deck should be beatable, having Masticores, Hermit and Opposition and those mana Yavimaya-dudes that chump so good. But again his deck had enough surprise-elements to beat me, read on:
