Now you are certainly thinking: "What, Orlando needs protection?" Well not really in that way. If Orlando needs physical protection he will surely hire a bodyguard and a fanclub surely won't be able to help him with that. But our existance is not useless. No actor is so much in the spotlight of the media in the last three years as Orlando Bloom. He is the most searched star on internet, a victim of the yellow press. These might be perfectly normal disadvantages when being famous. But around Orlando has grown another trend. A development which is sad.
You can read regularly about sone kind of attacks from fans on Orlando Bloom. Especially at the shooting of "Kingdom of Heaven" the situation often escalated and Bloom needed to flee. His private life is watched by every single move that he does and his relationship to Kate Bosworth, whom Orlando always tries to protect, is shadowed through statement from fans. Often those are hostile statements or even threatenings againest the actress which are absolutely terrible.
In this case fans are splitted from fans. We want to establish a fanclub that tries to push againest this development. We respect Orlando's private life, as well as his relationship with Kate Bosworth. This is a part of his life which is none of our concern. If he wants his fans to take part in it, it is his decision, but at the moment he won't be happy with this development. Also we want to put his work as an actor in the foreground. After all this is what is important. Of course not everybody can like every role he plays, but you can still respect the work he is doing. For work is is and Orlando Bloom did give up a lot for his career (for example the loss of his private life) and had to work very hard for it (and still does). Seldom you see an actor who is shooting so many movies in a row and makes a great development through the time.
We want to build a group of the fans who respect Orlando as a person. At the moment POC is not a listed fanclub, but we are working on that and are hoping that we will be able to become official. We have two aims.
First to achieve the sympathy of fans, who are not thinking in the way as earlier described.
Secondly we hope that Orlando might notice our work. As much as an actor might appreciate his fans, there are always negative experiance with hysterical and egoistic fans. Therefore we would like to let him know, that there still are other fans.
