The wagons don't roll out west any more.  There was territory out there a long time ago that held promise and new adventures for all who dared travel.  The land was a scary prospect for many easterners who only knew of life in their quaint small towns.  But for folks who had nothing to lose ventured out there and let the land shape their personalities.  Some of them followed dreams of gold and treasure, while others escaped nightmares back home.  The land was new, and it had no rules.  But once people got there and shaped the land, they saw that the at the very edge of the coast was the ocean.  This meant that exploration as adventurers would know it was essentially over.  Once the west was settled, that was it.  Put the pirate ships and cowboy hats away, because it is time to start things for serious.  The people said we must build great civilizations and great technologies to bring the world together.  We must rise together to create great nations who will work together to further mankind.  We must do things unimaginable, and triumph together.  But the explorers cried back all we want is to seek out new things, and new adventure.  There has to be more than simply building towards the sky.   What about all of the stars out there in the sky?  Civilization is content to sit back and watch the dots, while the pioneers want to visit every single one.  Civilization needs the explorers and dreamers; the explorers do not need civilization.  They are content to let life be, pushing the limits of nature.  Those who stayed back east built this country and pushed themselves.  They built great cities in which to live everyday lives, but they left out the spirit that makes men want to take all of their belongings and start anew in a wide open land.  Men do not need a reason to want to escape, the simple fact that there is so much out there should be enough.  Man has tamed the animals, but he cannot tame animal inside.  Go west young man and let the spirit guide you.
