Backpacker
Chapter 1
Johnathen looked up at the sky.  The sun was getting close to setting, the evening was coming fast.  He stopped for a minute, took his blue backpack, and rummaged for something in the silence.  He found what he was looking for and put it on his wrist.  He was extrememly excited.  Today was his first day.
He started walking, the tracks were his goal.  Once he got to the tracks he followed them along breaking into a run.  Finally he saw the red caboose that was the clubhouse.  He knocked on the door and was immediately let in.
Johnathen wasn't much to look at.  He was 12 years old, and had been living on the street since as long as he could remember.  He didn't even know if he had a family.  He never remembered a time when he did.  His life on the streets left him bruised.  He was also very fthin because of lack of food.  His hair was brown and he wore the same outfit for days at a time.  He hated the streets, so he started finding a way out.  When he heard about the Mafias he had to check them out.
Johnathen walked in taking a deep breath something was telling him that mixing with these guys was bad news.  He didn't care though.  He just wanted a shelter.  A place to keep him safe from all the people on the streets.  He'd almost been beaten up for trying to find a place to sleep twice that week.  He had also had people beg him for food or money.  He just couldn't stand it anymore.  The Mafias had to be better then all the hurt he saw on the street daily.
Looking around the room was pretty dull.  All he could see in the caboose was a table with chairs surrounding it.  There was also lots of hay.  Johnathen assumed it was for beds.  The kids looked up at him as he drew closer to the table.  There was a red headed girl there, the only girl, and she was the first to speak up.
"Hey!" She said, "What are you here for?"
"Well, I'm hungry and tired.  I just want a shelter to keep me from the streets.  I'll do anything.
When johnathen said anything a guy who was full of muscles and orange hairded looked up.
"Anything?" he asked his voice a grave raspy whisper.
"yeah sure, anything," Johnathen answered a bit timid."
How would you like to join our clan?"
"Thats what I came here to talk to you about."
"The guy searched Johnathens face suspiciously.  Finally guessing Johnathen was alright he pulled up a chair next to him.  Eargerly everyone did the same.
