| Title: Starry Night Author: Haunted Rating: G Fandom: Bend it Like Beckham Pairing: Jess/Joe Disclaimer: I own nothing and no one. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* "Oh. Oh! I see it now!" "What?" "It's obviously a duck." "Um, Jess, sweetheart, I think that's the big dipper." Joe smiled at the girl lying snug in his arms. "It is?" Jess turned her head, changing its position on Joe's chest. "No, I think it's a duck. I mean, look at the beak right there. And its little feet." She continued to stare at the starry sky, trying to pick out the constellations that lay woven in endless night above her. Jess found herself tracing the patterns the stars seemed to make with her finger. She sighed contentedly as she listened to the crickets chirp, and felt the steady rise of Joe's chest beneath her. Turning, she faced him. "Isn't it gorgeous?" "Beautiful." Joe replied, never taking his eyes off Jess' face. She playfully slapped at him, "Not me! The sky!" "Oh, well, that's lovely too." A smile spread across Jess' face. Settling back down, she buried her face in the soft fabric of Joe's shirt. She breathed in, making sure she would always remember his unique scent. Not that she could ever forget him, but the mere thought of not being able to hold Joe, not being able to be with Joe, scared her. And if anything ever happened, she needed to keep him in her memory. The feel of his arms wrapping around her was the last thing she remembered as she slowly drifted to sleep. Joe looked down at the amazing woman in his arms as he felt her body become heavy with slumber. Giving a small smile, as he brought a hand up to gently stroke her hair. How did he get so lucky? How did such a wonderful person stumble into his life? What if Jules had never walked through the park that day? Where would he be now? He shook his head, as if to clear away all his thoughts. All that mattered to him was nestled in his arms. Drawing in a long breath, the sweet night air mixed with Jess' perfume, creating an intoxicating aroma. He wished that this would never end. He wished he could lie here forever with Jess in his arms. But, like all good things it would come to an end. The sun would rise, swallowing the darkness, and they would both have to go about their lives. But for now, he would just lie there. Thinking of nothing but the night sky, and the beautiful girl in his arms. Making a wish on every star, hoping that one would grant his wish. A wish for the future. One filled with happiness and hope. Love and brightness. And most importantly. Jess. End. |
