| I was diagnosed with having a Rheumatic Disease called Ankylosing Spondylitis in 1998. This page was added to give family members a small understanding of the disease. It also contains my all time favorite link ---A support group for people with Spondylitis called SPONDYVILLE! I have found this site to be a life saver for me as it is such a comfort to chat with people who can understand just what you are feeling with this disease. The clubs webmaster Spenser23as, is an asset to the Spondylitis communtity! The club members are all tremendously kind, caring and understanding. If you have Spondylitis or have a family member with it, you must pay this site a visit, you will be glad you did! |

| Ankylosing spondylitis and related rheumatic diseases affect the spine. They can also affect other joints, such as the shoulders, hips, knees and feet. Occasionally tissues such as those in the eyes are involved. We sometimes refer to ankylosing spondylitis as spondylitis or AS and it is the main disease among the related conditions called seronegative spondylarthropathies. | At this time, as I have no fusion to warrant Ankylosing Spondylitis and have had episodes of Psoriasis, my diagnosis is undifferentiated Spondylarthropathy. Below is it's description. |

| Undifferentiated spondyloarthropathy Sometimes doctors see patients with signs and symptoms of spondyloarthropathy that don't quite fit into one of the usual categories. For example, a person may have iritis and heel pain and be HLA-B27 positive. In cases such as these, the term "undifferentiated spondyloarthropathy" is often used. Some of these people may later develop symptoms of the so-called classic categories explained above, but others will continue to have chronic, but not severe symptoms, and remain undifferentiated.
