There was excruciating agony in his wrists and he briefly registered that he had somehow managed to pull free of his captors, even as he rushed to his fallen god’s side and sank to his knees next to him, words spilling from his mouth even as tears dampened his eyes.

No. No! Kira could not be dead! He could not accept it, even as he watched those beautiful eyes, almost golden, dull. He wanted…

Justice had to prevail. It had to!

He was vaguely aware of the circle forming around them, vaguely aware of blood dripping in neat, concise patterns, but the rest of the room was frozen, and he paid them little heed. With a sigh, he placed his hands on the ground in front of him, almost in prayer. Kira… God…

The circle around them glowed blinding white.

Ryuk raised his eyebrows, finally realizing what had happened. So. He hadn’t expected anything like this from Mikami, and he doubted Light would even know, but as the light cleared away, to the horror of all assembled, Light Yagami stood there. His eyes were unfocused, but as the others fired, Mikami simply smiled, a long slow smile that didn’t touch his crimson eyes.

His clothing had shifted, skintight black, and he leaned against his God, lending his support. He could feel the power coiling between them, within them, and he knew that he had made the right choice. He watched the bullets worm their way out of Kira’s flesh, dropping useless to the ground, even as black began to creep up Light’s body, forming into claws that curved darkness from his fingertips.

He felt one rest in his hair, briefly, and he knew that his God was pleased. Then, he simply sat back and watched, as horror filled the eyes of all present.

They fell to the ground in pieces seconds later.

“Mikami….” His God purred, as he stood, and knelt, and Kira lifted him up, and smirked, that beautiful smile that made him ache. “You have done well.”

And then cool lips were on his, and Mikami surrendered, for he knew what to do, and he had pleased Kira.

            That was enough.

… I know Mikami doesn’t know human transmutation *cough* and I would say he sacrificed his sanity only he doesn’t seem to have much left to begin with!
