| (The Soul, The Spirit and The Ego continued) The Ego The ego is an interesting aspect because people equate the ego with being big-headed or conceited. We describe someone we consider conceited as having an ego. However, a healthy balanced ego functions successfully. An ego that has become unbalanced falls prey to the shadows of life. The shadows include conceit, greed, jealousy etc and we call these character aspects or lessons to be learnt, as our shadow side. A healthy, balanced ego has become aware of, acknowledged and healed these issues thereby bringing itself back into balance. Often these shadows create alarming swings within ourselves and by addressing these issues and healing them, we create inner balance. Learning these lessons and addressing our shadow side takes energy and strength which is where the spirit comes in. If we are tired and weary, we often feel like we just cannot battle with these issues anymore and may succumb for a while until we are ready to face them again. Thus, the ego seems to include and affect our emotions, our thoughts, our mental processes, how we view ourselves, how we view others and how we view situations in our lives. In a way it provides our personality to a large extent in each incarnation and seems to know what lessons we require and is instrumental in assimilating them. It is a little like a computer in that it takes in information or data, and then spits out the other end what we think about it. What we think about it, in turn affects our feeling or heart centre. If our soul holds all the knowledge and wisdom we need, then the ego helps to put that knowledge into practice. It is a little like someone learning to become a nurse or doctor you can have the knowledge but you need to fully experience it hands-on to understand it fully and grow with wisdom. So the ego looks at all manner of things such as greed, jealousy, envy, hatred, bigotry, fear, pride, conceit, issues with drama, issues with control etc The ego does not mind getting into the nitty gritty and getting its hands dirty! We come to experience many things and learn many lessons so that we might gain wisdom out of knowledge and experience - and the ego is a vital part of that process. In a way, the ego can be looked at like a huge set of scales on which many things are placed but only if you place them in the correct position will you gain the balance you seek. PEARLS OF WISDOM by Caz and Friends in Spirit Connection to Spirit is like loose wiring. Sometimes we are totally connected and have moments - even periods, of truth and enlightenment. Other times, our wiring becomes loose and we lose a good connection to Spirit I guess our aim is to improve our wiring skills so that we can stay in touch with Great Spirit more and more. Then we can reach that state of enlightenment for which we all strive. Spiritual Electrician Course available for all those who seek it!!!! . |
