| TURTLE MEDICINE by Caz and Friends in Spirit I have the honour of carrying Turtle Medicine. It is one of the two animal totems that walk on either side of me. My name, �Woman Who Swims with Turtles�, was given to me by spirit and I carry it with pride. The following is a description of what turtle medicine is all about. I have had the joy of having 5 children - all wonderfully loving boys who have given me both pleasure and heartache. Pleasure in having them in my life and sharing their childhood. Heartache from watching them learn the lessons that life sends them. Mine is the firm hand that guides them, mine is the energy that creates a space in which they can learn and grow, my heart is the one that envelops them with love - the one that gives them life and acceptance and leads them to their true path. I am the one who sets them on their way with as many tools as I can give them and as many skills as I can teach them. I stand and set their feet firmly on their pathway and give them a loving, gentle nudge to encourage them to step forward and embark on their life. My heart and prayers and guidance goes with them. It is my job to see that they are as well-equipped as I can make them. I must listen to my heart and to Spirit to know when is the right time to let them go. My medicine is the one that carries and gives birth to new life, that nurtures the young. This not only applies to babies, young children, young adults, and the animal world, but also to the birth and nurturing of new ideas and endeavours. Turtle encourages and creates space or opportunities for growth and development, new ideas and new challenges. If you have a notion to begin a new venture then Turtle Medicine is the one to call to breathe life into it. Then once, it has created the energy required to give it birth, Turtle then provides the nurturing to see it grow. Turtle Medicine people are the ones who love and nurture children - the eternal Earth Mother or Father who watches over their children with love and kindness. They are the ones on which baby kittens fall asleep being cuddled to their heart chakra, or that dogs sit smiling at their feet or to whom children are naturally drawn to and trust. They are often the silent ones behind others, who encourage and motivate the growth and ideas of other people. This is the energy that gives life...that helps to create and build. Turtle Medicine also helps to ground and balance you when your energy becomes scattered and awry. Call on this medicine to help bring your energies back into alignment and vibrate truly. It is close to Mother Earth and there is great love and respect between the two. If you carry Turtle Medicine within you, then you will feel great honour and respect for Terra. You will help give her life force energy by caring for her and sending her healing energy. You will love to see plants and trees grow and mature, you will nurture and feed them and hear them when they tell you what they need to survive. If they are thirsty, they will tell you. If they are hungry or need more sunlight or less wind, they will tell you. If you carry Turtle....you will hear them and give them what they need. You will look after Mother Earth and the oceans upon her. You will try to recycle and remove the rubbish that poisons her every day. You are Turtle - you swim in her seas. You bury your eggs in her sands and Mother protects and guards them until they are ready to hatch. Thus the two of you are entwined in your caring and respect for each other. This is the honour that I carry from Turtle. I am the floating rock that you cling to when you are drowning. I will carry you on my back till we find a shore on which you can place your feet, then I will gently guide you forward with a firm and loving hand and take pleasure in watching you walk on your pathway.
