| HEALING : WHAT TO EXPECT! When you decide to have a healing you will probably disover that there are many different types and modalities of healing and healers. The important thing is to find out a bit about those types you are interested in and then give it a go. During one of my own healing sessions, I may use one or a combination of healing energies. I use many healing modalities including Reiki, SeiChim, Ki Manna, Shamanism, Crystal Energy, Spiritual Healing etc. The type or combination I choose for you depends on what I am guided to use but as not all healers are the same, you must find one with whom you feel comfortable. I enter the healing with the knowledge that each healing energy comes from the God Source, the Universal Consciousness, the Great Mystery or whatever it is that you may call it. The word Reiki means universal life force energy. The question as to where it comes from can be answered in many ways. I prefer to say that Reiki and indeed - all types of healing energy -comes from the Divine Source. This means many things to different people depending on your beliefs. The easiest way I can describe it is that it comes from the source of all creative and healing life force energy.....the God Source is another way of putting it. As a healer, I channel this energy through my body and hands. . During a healing session, you may lie on a healing bed or massage table, or if you are not comfortable horizontally, you can sit on a chair. The healers aim is to relax you, so you will be asked to get as comfy as possible and to close your eyes and let yourself relax. Many people in today's stressful world find relaxing difficult so often, soft relaxation music will be played and candles or incense may be lit to provide a peaceful atmosphere in which it is easy to unwind. The aim is to be relaxed so that you are as open to the healing energy as possible. If you are not relaxed and you are tense and fidgety, it may distract the healer as well as making it a less enjoyable experience for you.The healer, depending on the healing modality used, will proceed by placing their hands either directly on or just above your body and channel energy through. The healer should always explain prior to the healing, where the hands are going to be touching the body and these hand positions should feel non obtrusive and gentle. The sensations you may feel are varied. Most people feel very relaxed especially if they are stressed - sometimes you may even fall asleep and in my experience it is not uncommon for someone to be snoring on the table!. My hands may feel warm, buzzy, etc...You may notice that my touch will feel warmer in some areas than in others. Some spots may actually feel hot, others may feel colder. You may ask the healer about any sensations after the healing has finished. If you are having a course of healings you may have feelings which come up to the surface and you may feel emotional or even teary. If these feelings surface, allow them to happen and let the tears flow for they are healing tears. The releases may occur either during the healing or afterwards and vary from tears and anger to laughter - all are natural ways to release in a positive, healing way. All feelings are perfectly normal and should not be pushed down...rather they should be allowed to happen as they are all ways of releasing negative energy in a positive way. We have all experienced hardship, disappointment, and loss sometime in our lives and these are stored in parts of our bodies. If they are stored for too long, they create illness so gentle release during a healing brings our bodies back in to balance and well being. A healing may take anywhere from 1/2 to 2 hours depending on what is needed although I have done 'mini-quickies' too! A good healer will know intuitively when you have had enough. During a healing other methods may also be used such as crystals for crystal therapy, smudging to clear the aura and eagle feathers to sweep the auric body.... etc... When the healing is finished, the healer should gently guide you back to full awareness and provide you with a glass of water as well as making sure you are OK to drive.. In the days which follow a healing it is interesting to make a note of issues that the healing may have brought to the surface. You may have realisations about things or find that something that was bugging you no longer does. It is good to keep a diary of your thoughts, realisations and feelings so that you can keep an eye on your progress. ***************** |
