Sometimes you may notice that there is residual energy left behind by either unpleasant situations or people who have been negative or ill. This occurs in many situations. For example, you may have been nursing someone at home who has been seriously ill or dying. The energy that they carried around them still remains and clings to walls, floors, curtains etc....as the energy of illness is clingy, slimy and sometimes hard to get rid of.

You may find also, that the feel of any pain or discomfort still remains too. It makes you feel dirty when you walk in the room - although if the illness endured over a long period or was particularly intense, like cancer, this feeling may extend throughout the house. You will feel it as you walk from room to room - clinging to walls, curtains, furnishings and stagnating in corners. You may even find that the room or the house appears dark and dull and lifeless to your eye. The tiredness and sadness related to illness and death remains after the event or situation is over.

Other situations include unhappy relationships, violence and abuse in any form i.e. physical, emotional, mental, drugs, alcohol etc. These are all linked to deep unhappiness and despair so great that you can touch its energy. Mental illness such as schizophrenia, depression, psychosis also leave a heavy, unbalanced energy behind.

We all know what it is like to walk into a room where there has been some sort of angry situation - you can feel it. You have probably heard the expression you could cut the air with a knife. This expression is a description of what energy feels like in a negative situation. It is heavy, thick, almost touchable in comparison to positive energy which feels light and free and peaceful.

In my own experience, when I was in an unhappy marriage I could never keep the walls clean no matter how hard or how often I scrubbed. They just seemed to constantly pick up dirt and marks and I was forever washing and painting them. This made little difference and only for a short time.

I find that when I am happy and things are balanced and positive and as they should be, I have to do very little upkeep or maintenaince in the way of energy clearing. Of course, it needs to be done every now again as we live in a world that is fraught with stress and anxiety. Situations arise which create chaos and imbalance and even though we may correct the balance quickly, it still contributes to the energy pot we have in our houses or rooms where we live.

The Energy Pot
An energy pot is a way to describe the combined energies of several different individuals living together as in a family. Every being brings their own unique energy home to the pot. If everyone is in a negative mode or situation, the home will be filled with negative energy. If everyone is happy and healthy in all areas of their life, the home energy will be  positive. As you can imagine, there are a myriad of combinations of energy and the more individuals in the house, the more diverse the energy pot possibilities.

It is kind of like the group consciousness in microscopic mode. Every being has their own energy and consciousness. Each being within a family group brings that energy home with them.  The same rule can be applied to a town, a city, a country etc...You can view the energy pots overall energy by looking at each individuals contribution.

I live in a household of five boisterous boys and my hubby and there is always something that has happened at school or at work, or news they bring home that is sad or upsetting. They bring it home with them every day. If you have a friend who is ill or upset or depressed or in a negative frame of mind, they will leave that energy behind even though they have left physically.

It is just as important to clear this energy away in an ongoing situation as it is to clear it away in a situation which has passed - such as when a death has occurred or a recovery has been made.

Spiritual SpringCleaning
There are several ways that you can remove negative residual energy. The first is a good old fashioned spring clean - of the spiritual type that is!! It starts just the same as an ordinary spingclean with a bucket of warm soapy water and a sponge.

To the water you may add a few drops of your favourite oil although I also ususally tend to add a couple of drops of an oil which acts as a disinfectant such as eucalyptus or tea tree oil. You may wash the walls and other washable objects in the room and either add a few drops of this oil to your vaccum cleaner or have the carpets cleaned. If you have lino or floor tiles, a wash with floor cleaner and a couple of drops of oil will suffice
