My philosophy

I started this WebPages because after years of malnourishing myself with gagbag on long hikes I started to relook at what I was putting in my body. After changing many things about my diet on the trail I found that I felt much better hiked better and enjoyed my time in the backcountry more. I no longer rush to the nearest steakhouse when I get off the trail to satisfy my craving for quality food. I also have not added weight to my pack in the process...in fact I have taken my food weight down to about a pound a day for hiking about 13 miles a day. I've found that all calories are not created equal and by making food as nutritious as possible I have to carry less of it. I also have found the eating according to your blood type approach to be very helpful. This is a somewhat controversial idea developed by Dr. Peter D'Adamo and discussed in his book "Eat Right For Your Type. That is only my experience though. I’d love to here about yours.

Bon appetit,
Jack Young
