Class of 2003:
This is something that I got from USA today about 5 years ago. It's a list of things that the graduating class of 2003 (Graduating high school) know, don't know, and are unique because of.
- They are the first generation to be born into Luvs, Huggies and Pampers.
- They never realized that for one brief moment, Alexander Haig was 'in charge'.
- They have always known strikes by highly paid atheletes to be a routine part of professional athletics.
- Space travel has always included women.
- They have never needed a prescription ot buy ibuprofen.
- They recognise the moonwalk as a Michael Jackson dance step, not as a Neil Armstrong giant step.
- They grew up with Microsoft, IMB PC's, inline skates and fax machines and film on disks.
- While they all know her children, they will have no idea who Ma Bell was.
- They never heard anyone say "Book 'em Dano" "Good night, John-Boy" or " Kiss my grits" in prime time.
- They have never had to worry about the packaging of Tylenol.
- They have spent more than half their lives with Bart Simpson.
- They don't understand why Solidarity is spelled with a captial "S".
- They don't think there is anything terribly futuristic about 2001, and they were never concerned with the year 1984.
- They have no idea how big a bread box is.
- President Kennedy's assassination seems as distant to them as that of Lincoln or Garfield.
- They have probably never opened an icebox.
- They have never seen wike smoke over the Vatican and do not know it's significance.
- Ketchup has always been a vegetable to them.
- Susan B. Anthony has always been on the dollar, but probably never bought them much.
- ET, Gremlins, and The Hulk provided their Halloween costumes and lunch box themes.
- They have never seen a BankAmericard.
