Knee socks for your good health
ABTA advises travellers to pull socks up

Holidaymakers embarking on long journeys by plane, coach, car or train are being advised by ABTA to pull their socks up to help prevent the risk of travel-related deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and other circulatory problems. ABTA has recognised the benefits of compression socks for travellers undertaking long journeys by endorsing Scholl Flight Socks.

Scholl Flight Socks and new Scholl Flight Knee Highs are medically proven to help prevent flight-related DVT and both use a clinically-proven graduated compression system to combat other problems which can arise on long journeys, such as swollen ankles and tired, aching legs.

Announcing the endorsement, ABTA’s head of corporate affairs Keith Betton said: “We at ABTA are always seeking to help holidaymakers have the safest and most comfortable travel experience.

“There is a wealth of evidence pointing to the efficacy of compression in helping reduce the risk of travel-related DVT, and we are delighted to announce our support for Scholl Flight Socks.

“We advise travellers to wear flight socks on any trip of three hours or more. Not only will this reduce the risk of suffering a travel-related DVT, but also combat other circulatory problems and increase comfort.”

Chris Bunniss, Scholl Flight Socks marketing director, said: “I am delighted Scholl Flight Socks will be working with ABTA to reach travellers and travel agents across the country to encourage us all to take precautions to protect against the risk of travel-related DVT.”
