LightSoul's notes on Shadow Madness:
I finished Shadow Madness on the night of the 20th October, 2000. I had played just over 20 hours, and I have to say I have never seen such an easy RPG. I was the highest level possible before halfway through the game, and the bosses never lasted for more than five rounds of fighting. The hardest part of the game was remembering which button used magic, items, etc. Also, after every level up, you got all your HP and MP back, which made it very easy. I think giving Stinger the lock picking ability was a waste of time, since I only found about 10 locks to pick in the entire game.
Also, the NPCs are really annoying. You get into a town and talk to an NPC and they talk for ages. The worst part is, the characters keep the conversation going. Also, the portraits are ugly and scare the hell out of me. Also, a waving animation is programmed into almost every NPC, which makes them wave from time to time when you're in the room, and it's annoying as hell.
Let me tell you about the three final bosses, Mannheim, Hokum and Darg. Xero, Jirina and Clemett fight Mannheim, and he fell before he got to use his FMV backed up magic. The twitch move makes it a lot easier, since it doubles your damage. Hokum was even easier since he was fought by the better team, Stinger, Windleaf and Harv-5. I kicked his ass easily. And the final boss, Darg...ha ha ha. First off, you fight a large, scary demon with Stinger, Clemett and Harv-5. It was over in three rounds. Though he had good defence, he was no good against Clemett's gun. The hardest thing about it was using items instead of magic to heal. Then, you have Windleaf, Xero and Jirina against three thingies. Some magic casting takes them out in no time. Repeat the exact same battle for Stinger and Windleaf's teams, then Stinger's again. The end. Yes, that's all. And the ending, sucked, too.
