| Another spectacular show! GD & COM put on an awesome performance, mixing in amongst his solo stuff some covers by Dylan, Johnny Cash (who passed away the morning of the show) and the best Neil Young cover I've ever heard. It was the best night imaginable, and afterwards I hung around with a group of Hipbasers and got Gord's autograph on my BOTN leaflet! (I tried to get rid of the red-eye in a lot of these pictures, but I can't do it without making his eyes look really weird.) |

| Show-opener Nathan Wiley: He played for about 45 minutes, and despite wishing that he'd be over and done with so Gord would come out (he didn't until after 11:30), this guy had some pretty good music. I would really consider going to see his own show. He's very much in the Greg Keelor vein...I'd heard all about him, but I'd never seen him before, and I was pleasantly surprised. |

| It took over two hours of waiting backstage, out in the parking lot, but Gord finally emerged to sign our goods & wares. He was completely high, which is apparently unusual...but minute sbefore he came out, a couple of girls flew out the back doors, laughing and saying "I can't believe I just smoked a joint with Gord Downie!" I got my BOTN CD slip signed...really wanted to bring my CMG poetry book like Darren, but I didn't have anywhere to put it! Oh well...let's hope I get another chance! |
