Game Day, Game 14: Lightning v. Bandits: Wednesday, December 10, 2003

 

Even though it is the Christmas season, we had a full roster, and we

were out of the dressing room waiting to get on the ice even before the

Zamboni was finished, even Michelle and Calvin!  Marlene played

again, as she seems to have recovered from her ankle injury.  We had

another new recruit, Gwen from the olden days.  So, what happened, well,

Sue (Sieve) complained that the shots from the other team weren’t hard

enough, but how then did three goals go in? … at least we scored five though.

 Linda got one on a breakaway after a great soccer pass from Wilke

and head man pass from Marlene.  Maija got one on a backhand breakaway

after a flip pass from Linda.  Midder jammed in a rebound for her second

goal in as many games, but she could have had a hat trick too if it wasn’t

for the other goalie.  Then Dickie scored a powerplay goal (and thank goodness

because the other team was very rough and borderline dirty  … just look at their

penalty minutes … they have 104 minutes and we have only 38 minutes, so

that reflects poorly on them). I’m proud of our team as we didn’t take any

retaliatory penalties.  Then Gwen scored our last goal on a nice slapshot from

the right slot.  TSN Update: Lightning Injury Report:  Calvin left the game with

an undisclosed injury, Maija had jammed her thumb and wrist the night before

and may have aggravated it, and Liz is still on the injured reserve list with her

sore back.  Our last game before the Christmas break is on Wednesday,

December 17 at 6:45pm against those dreaded Flyers … let’s all ask Santa

for a good game  against them this time … so we will see who has been

 naughty and who has been nice J
