Game 12 vs. Renegades

Game Day, Game 12: Lightning v. Renegades (Again!): Wednesday, November 19, 2003

Not bad, we were all in the dressing room ready to go well before

game time, and we had two full forward lines, and three defence,

thank goodness our newest addition Lori didn’t leave us after our

first game like Tania and Irena did.  So, the second of the back-to-back

games against the Renegades.  Liz, aka Walter, decided to take the night

off, literally, she didn’t even have her goalie gear with her, but at least

she did call out Sue, aka Sieve to play in net for us instead of the usual

defence or forward that she plays … she is our “Superstar”.  Maija was

there, but she had such a sore throat, she could barely talk, except in that

sexy kinda voice, but even that was too quiet for anyone to appreciate it.

Calvin was resting her sore “peg” which she injured playing soccer (now

that’s a tough sport). Then there was Chad and Marlene, who still has a

sore ankle, up in the Stands watching the game and later providing

play-by-play in the bar About all the wipeouts … and an interesting

magazine called “Cowboys and Indians”.  We had lots of scoring chances

(Midder!), but AJ, the other goalie stopped em, except another shot

by Linda from outside the crease again, what is going on, and a howlitzer

slap shot by Lori (who later in the bar explained that the power of her

low shot comes from some expensive blade that tapers near the bottom

to give the kick off the stick or something like that), but I think she

should save her $$ because she could shoot that hard with a toothpick.

Oh yeah, Sieve got a shut-out because she can countdown to zero and

hear the Fat Lady singing so she knew when the game was over. I

almost forgot, but Leanna played some of the game with green goop on

the butt side of her hockey pants which was leftover from Liz’s experiment

a couple of weeks ago. However, the funniest hockey play of the night

was Wilke turning away from going on a breakaway with about 6

seconds left … I say keep going because you never know when the

other team is going to score, like with 0.5 seconds left or something,

and we may have needed that extra goal. Sue L., we could have had some

nachos or beer if the goalie didn’t fall down, and you didn’t get a penalty for

interference.  We now have a long break until Sunday, December 7 before

we play again.  Miss you guys and Val too!
