Game Day,
Game 5: Wednesday, October 8, 2003 v. the Flyers
What's
going on? We could have had two goalies for this game as both Sue and Liz
were available
to play ...
but, in the end our long lost Walter found her way back into the net. She
played great
(well, the
warm-up looked a little shaky, but after that she was her usual Hasek-like
self). She did,
however, look
pretty tired at the end of the night. We managed to get more goals than
them and
won 3-2, with
Petra, Maija, and Wilke doing the scoring. Unfortunately, there is
nothing funny to
write about
for this game, instead I have to say how sad the whole team is that Val broke
her upper
arm.
The enthusiasm was taken right out of us during the game, and afterwords
in the dressing room
everyone
pretty much realized how important Val is to us, not just her hustle and
leadership on the
ice, but
also just her being around makes it soooooooooooooo worthwhile coming
to the rink, with
her infectious
laugh, social skills, and all round "wonderfullness". I know
that all the players will be
missing
something without her around, as her absence will be so noticeable.
Val, buddy, what can
we say
except think positive, find some motivation to overcome this, and no that
we will be thinking
about you
every Wednesday and Sunday when we play. We miss you already.
Love the Lightning.
The end ..
except maybe this will at least make some of us smile: Men are like a fine
wine.
They start
out as grapes and it's up to women to stomp the sh-t out of them until they
turn into
something
acceptable to have dinner with :).
