Game Day,
Game 4: Wednesday, October 1, 2003 Lightning v. Burnaby Bandits
We were
playing the Thiefs, no the Burglars, no the Heisters, no the Criminals, no it
was the Bandits,
and they
were trying to steal a game from us, and they almost did. There was no
goalie, no Liz and
no Sue at
game time, Michelle offered, but we vetoed that, next we tried the last person
in has to be
goalie, but
we couldn't remember who came in last. So, our intrepid Finnish girl
Maija went down the
hall and
found one from the 5th Division I think. Her name was Rachelle (sp?) and
she was from the
Snipers,
but she is now known as Bootsie or Go Go Goalie, and let me tell you that
name fits her to
a
tee. After the game, she put on her street clothes, oh 24 inch brown
leather boots. They scored,
we scored,
we scored, they scored ... not sure what order things really happened in, but
it was basically
the last
shot wins, and it was us with a thrilling 5-4 victory.
We had
another newcomer, Natalie Christiansen, well not new really, but recycled, as
she played for
the
Lightning a few years back when she just "needed to have some fun at the
game again" and fun
she did
have, right? it was us who turned her career around and got her back on track,
oh Val,
are you
crying yet? Midder, we missed you, we heard you may be engaged,
ahahhahahhaa.
Next up,
the Flyers again on Wednesday, October 8, 2003 at 8:45 p.m. (Sue, did you get
that?)
