The Final Farewells? (by Ghost and AP)

‘Super Beast’ by Rob Zombie started to play. The pyros blasted, and Ghost and AP walked out to the ring. AP dressed in a suit and tie, Ghost wearing his classic white outfit. They both entered the ring by way of the steps, and made their way to the middle. Ghost motioned for Billy Anderson’s microphone, taking it and beginning a speech.

Ghost: "Alas, the final day has come. There is but one last match of XWF. I had a big speech planned for this occasion, but words cannot express my feelings right now. So I bid you all farewell. Good luck to everyone in your future feds, if any at all. Who knows? Maybe we’ll cross paths again someday. These are my final words to you all. Goodbye… for now."

He hands the mic off to AP, who swallows and takes it to his lips.

AP: "You know, when I first decided to do this, I though ‘what have I done?’ I was heartbroken. I don’t mean to sound selfish, but I’ve finally begun to accept the fact that I’m not going to be the owner anymore. Why do I say I won’t be the owner anymore? Shouldn’t I say that XWF is ending? No, because XWF will live on. In me, in K-Train, in Renegade, in Shadow Lord, in Husker, in Kage, in Bronx and Boar, in all of the fans, all of superstars, all of the referees, the cameramen, the guys who set up the ring, the commentators, every single person ever involved in XWF in anyway. XWF will live in our memories and are hearts, just like GCW, just like WXW, just like EWW, just like SWL. It will be passed on to every federation any of us is ever in. It will live on in GPW. This is not the end of XWF! This is the final match in XWF, supposedly. But it is not. Every match any of you are ever in will be an XWF match. We will not die, we will live on!"

With this, he hands the microphone back to Ghost.

Ghost: "So it gives me great pleasure to say these next few words."

He looks around slowly and begins to speak again…

One… Two… Three! K-Train had won the match! The referee took the belt from ringside and gave it to K-Train. K-Train, sweating, tired, bleeding, climbed the turnbuckle and held the belt above his head for all the world to see. The superstars from the backstage, every individual star, ref, any employee at all came out and circled the ring. The pay-per-view music played. The crowd roared. The scene faded to black, for the last time…

Early the next morning. Very early, about 1:00. Only two people remained in the building. The ring was taken apart. Every mess cleaned up. It was vacant. All but one of the janitors had left. Every light in the building was off except one. The one lighting the hallway to the way out. Two people walked down. The janitor, Tom, and the one who ordered construction of the building. The building itself was built specifically for XWF. It was used only for that until AP sold it and they went on the road for their shows. They approached the door. Tom look curious at the other man, who was thumbing through old papers.

Tom: "If you don’t mind me asking, sir, what are those papers?"

AP: "They’re old… I… well actually, I suppose some secrets are best kept a secret. Forever."

Tom opened the door and stepped out. AP turned and took one last glance at the building, then turned off the lights and joined him, letting the door slam shut behind him.
