Hair Care


On this page you will find recipies for all kind of hair products from pre shampoo conditioner to hair tonics. Please remember to follow all recipies carefully and to test a small amout of the product on your inside arm overnight to prevent alergic reations.


Pre Shampoo Conditioners

Natural Protein Conditioner

1 egg yolk
150g plain bio yoghurt

Mix the two ingerdients together and massage into you hair. Leave for 10 minutes and rise using tepid water. Shampoo as normal. This is excellent for adding gloss to dull lifeless hair.


Mayonnaise Pre Conditioner

Laddle approx 8 teaspoons of mayonnasie into your hair and massage in well. Leave on apporx 30 minutes under a shower cap and then rinse thoroughly. Was a usual

Parsley Juice Preconditioner

3 cups of fresh chopped parsley
120mls boiling water

Infuse the parsley and water following the instructions on the Beauty index page. Then put the whole infussion INCLUDING the parsley into a blender and mix into a runny paste, adding more of either ingredient if necessary. Massage well into your hair and leave for an hour under a shower cap, then rinse your hair and wash as normal. This helps balance the Sebaceous glands and helps boost slow growing hair.


Shampoo

With all shampoo's unless otherwise stated carefully add the essential oils to the shampoo, replace the lid and shake thoroughly.

Gentle Herb Shampoo
(for normal hair)


100mls mild, unscented shampoo(available at pharmacy's)
6 drops Geranium essential oil
4 drops Lemon essential oil
2 drops Parsley essential oil


Lemon and Herb Shampoo
(for oily hair)


100 mls mild, unscented shampoo
6 drops Lemon essential oil
4 drops Basil essential oil
2 drops Rosemary essential oil


Lavender Shampoo
(for dry hair)


100mls mild unscented shampoo
6 drops Lavender essential oil
4 drops Geranium essential oil
2 drops Yarrow essential oil


Chamomile and Thyme Shampoo
(for damaged hair)


100mls mild uncented shampoo
6 drops Chamomile essential oil
4 drops Lavender essential oil
2 drops Thyme essential oil


Rosemary and Lime Shampoo
(to treat dandruff)


100mls mild unscented shampoo
6 drops Rosemay essential oil
4 drops Lime essential oil
2 drops Sage essential oil


Egg Shampoo
(for all hair types)


Beat the egg slightly to blend the yolk and the white and massage into hair. Leave for 10 minutes to clean the hair and rise very thoroughly with tepid water (hot water will cook the egg into you hair!)

Post Shampoo Conditioners

Avacado Conditioner
(for all hair types)


1 small or 1/2 large Avacado
2 egg yolks
1 teaspoon wheatgerm or avacado oil
3 drops Parsley essential oil

Scoop out the flesh of the avacado and palce in a mixing bowl woth the egg yolks. Use a fork to mash the two together. Add the wheatgerm or avacado oil and the essential oil and mix thoroughly. Massage well into your hair. Wrap your hair in kitchen foil and leave for 15-20 minutes. Rinse your hair thoroughly.


Lavender Conditioner
(for normal hair)


Make a strong infusion of Lavender (about 2 1/2 cup fulls Lavender). Take a small amout of ht e infussion and mix with 3 drops Lavender essential oil. Massage into hair and leave about 10 mins, great for adding body and shine.

Finsihing Conditioners

These conditioners are used to control static and flyaway hair and are applied to the hair after washing and drying

Cream Dressing
(for flyaway hair)


The easiest way to control static and flyaway hair. Use a non-greasy hand cream. Rub a small amount between your palms and smooth lightly over the hair.

Bay,Rum and Lavender dressing
(for dry or damaged hair)


10 teaspoons rum
2 tablespoons water
2ml glycerine (optional)
40 drops Lavender essential oil
5 drops Bay essential oil

Use this mixture sparingly


Hair Tonics

To make these recipies infuse the herbs and boioling water for about 1 hour and then mix the other ingredients to the finished, cooled mixture. Then poor the mixture over your hair, taking care to recycle what is in the sink untill your hair will hold no more. Massage your scalp gently and rinse using cool water. Rinse gently by pouring the cool water over your hair and not using a shower.

Parsley Tonic
(for all hair types)


1 1/4 cups fresh Parsley (2 tablespoons dried)
500mls Boiling water
2 drops Parsley essential oil


Rosemay Herbal Finishing Rinse
(for all hair types)


2 tablespoons choppeded fresh Rosemary (1 tablespoon if dried)
300mls boiling water
2 drops Rosemary essential oil


Chamomile and Lemon Tonic
(for fair hair)


2/3 cup Chamomile flowers
500mls boiling water
juice of 1 Lemon
2 drops Lemon essential oil
