The Lighthouse Point Chapter of the NSDAR was confirmed October 10, 1998, at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Robert Pearson (Martha). There were 21 organizing members, with Mrs. Jill McKinley as Organizing Regent. State Regent, Aida Register, presented us with a gavel at our Organizational Luncheon on December 12, 1998, with Mrs. Marjorie Walsh as hostess. Our chapter meetings are typically held at the Lighthouse Point Yacht Club, Lighthouse Point, FL, or various nearby locations.

Our chapter name was derived from the Hillsboro Lighthouse, with its 145- foot-tall frame. The lighthouse was first lit in 1907 and electrified in the late 1930s. It became automated and unmanned in 1972. Although unmanned as a light station, the dwellings were converted into recreational cottages for senior military personnel. In 1978, the lighthouse and dwellings were placed on the National Register of historic places.
