RETIREMENT
As I began my retirement I realized that one of my obstacles was going to be centered around the high J I had on the Myers Briggs.  During my career this tendency had served me well in getting tasks completed on time and planning ahead.  However, during that same time I saw that there was another way to live which brought joy and laughter to those who pursued it.  In particular, I saw in my friend, Teresa Mullin, a high capacity to use her high P to good advantage and I decided I wanted to balance out my J with some P in my own life as I entered retirement.
One of my strategies involved changing the heading on my list of to dos for the day from Chores to Options.  This simple change of words helped take the pressure off and allow me more freedom in my day while yet still deriving satisfaction from completing jobs to be done.
Any of you following the development of this web page can see that I have made considerable progress.  At one time in my life I would not have been able to live with unfinished pages and incomplete areas.  Today I am able to take pleasure in the progress that I am making and enjoy the project each time I am engaged in adding or subtracting something (except when I hit an obstacle like being unable to add a photo and I become frustrated).  The point is that I do believe that I have been able to balance off my high J with some P and am trying to find the amount of each that is most beneficial to me.
How does someone with a high J on the Myers Briggs develop an appreciation and utilization of P?
What have your strategies been to bring balance between your Js' and Ps?
