Hehe... this is my brother and me in the subway. I fell in love with the subways when I was there. Okay, so maybe they're not the cleanest, and sometimes not the most spacious, and the stations are really hot, but there's just something about them that I love! hehe =) must be the native New Yorker in me. Yeah my brother didn't look too happy in this picture. Actually he didn't look too happy in any of the pictures. He kinda objected to it... so don't be too surprised if you don't see him smiling. [Little brothers. *rolls eyes*]
This is at Rockefeller Center... we had been at the Today show, and then we went around. All these pretty flowers! =) hehe... this is me and my mom.
My mom and my brother on top of the Empire State Building [86th floor!]... with a great view of lower Manhattan. The cluster of buildings you can see a bit left of the center... that is where the World Trade Center once stood. [See below for a picture of Ground Zero.]
This is my brother, my mom and me in front of one part of Times Square, yes, that's where the ball falls every New Year's Eve! Isn't that awesome? [Oh and we saw the Naked Cowboy there too, for all those who are somewhat interested. =)]
This is me in front of the world-famous [I think] MTV Studios in Times Square. Cool, no? hehe =)

Possibly the most poignant part of my trip... Here is a picture of the cross that's up at Ground Zero, although you can't see all of it... It was really sad when we went there, the whole site is lined with a fence all the way around, and people are up against that fence, just taking in what happened there... there's so many people, yet it's so quiet, so reverent. If you have a chance, definitely go there. It's a sobering moment. [My mom cried.]
Another sobering thing. This globe [entitled "The Sphere"... or "The Globe" or something unoriginal like that] stood in front of the World Trade Center, was not totally destroyed [this picture doesn't show too much of the damage] and was put in (Historic) Battery Park six months after September 11. I would have put the picture of the explanatory plaque thing up but I don't think anyone would have been able to read it, so I didn't.
Same park that the Globe or Sphere or whatever the heck it's called is in... here we are just hanging out and taking a break from all the walking we had to do... hehe... I was in the middle of tying my shoes, so that's why I'm holding my shoelaces. =)
Here's a picture of the skyline of Lower Manhattan. You know how when September 11 happened, everyone was talking about how the skyline of Manhattan would be altered forever? This is what they meant. You could see the Twin Towers clearly dominating this skyline, but now, they're not there... yeah. But anyway, this is where they would have been.

Yes I know the picture looks somewhat... tampered with, but in half the pictures I take, my finger ends up in them, which is exactly what happened with this one. So, I decided I'd fix it up a bit, but I ended up having to mess with the whole thing. But the Statue is the real thing, I didn't mess with that at all. Isn't that cool?
This is me in front of Carnegie Hall. My goal is to get there in February when the ACDA National Convention meets there and the National Honor Choir sings there. I really realy really hope I make it. Until then, I can say I was there... here's the proof! =) [update (dec.28): you know what's really sad? I didn't make it. =( no one i know did, so that's kind of a consolation, but not really. but oh well. i'll get there one day.]
So here I am in front of the Imperial Theatre, the night my mom and I went to see Les Miz. OMG it was the best play. And to see it on Broadway! *faints* LOL just kidding, and it actually wasn't on Broadway itself [Broadway is the street parallel to 45th, which is where the Imperial Theatre is], but close enough! =)
Well folks, that's the end of my New York pictures, but there are still east coast pictures that need to be put up! So going on to the next page, we have the Philly and DC pics...
