Tracy Salter was born and raised in (sweet home) Alabama, where music and family were the focus of her life. High school gave Tracy her first acting opportunity where she developed a passion for the theatre and a friendship with co-cast member Jill Balch as they shared the role of Carnell in The Miss Firecracker Contest. When she moved to Iowa to attend Graceland College (no, it doesn't have anything to do with Elvis), classical music and theatre consumed all of Tracy's time. Some of her favorite roles at Graceland include the Pupil in The Lesson, Shen Teh/Shui Ta in The Good Person of Szechwan and Helena in A Midsummer Night's Dream. After receiving her B.F.A. in Acting, Tracy moved to Florida to attend the University of Florida where she was reunited with Jill and met Heather, Diane, Peter and her husband Damon; all amazing, beautiful, hilarious and extraordinary talented friends. Anna in The Baltimore Waltz, Dr. Livingstone in Agnes of God, Mary in Vanities, Jeannie in Hair and Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing are among some of the roles Tracy performed while in graduate school. Interning with the Hippodrome State Theatre in Gainesville, Florida afforded other acting opportunities including Mayella in To Kill A Mockingbird and Helen in Laughter on the 23rd Floor as well as provided insight to the operations of a state theatre. A year or so after earning her M.F.A. in Acting, Tracy and Damon were married and the honeymoon consisted of the best road trip ever: moving to NYC for the lights of Broadway! Since moving to New York, Tracy has appeared in The Edge of Obsession at The Raw Space, As You Like It (Jaques) produced by Chimera Theatre at the New Actor's Workshop and The House of Yes (Mrs. Pascal) at the Producer's Club. Another long time dream of Tracy's has been to form a theatre company and with the incredible inspirational co-founder, Heather Roberts, and the support of friends and family (special thanks to Pat!), the dream has become a reality. Peter Zachari's Lighten Up! marks Aruru Theatre Company's first production and Tracy is extremely proud to be a part of this experience! One of our next projects is Heather's stage adaptation of Succulent Wild Woman by SARK. Tracy thanks the Creator for life, the talented teachers and mentors that shared their wisdom and sends much love to Damon, Mom and Dad, Pat and Peter and all of the Salter family, you mean the world to me. |
