Morning Glories

For this piece, a 12" plate was used.
A limited palette of colors was used:
Purple Violet of Iron,
White for Flowers, Antique Green, Rich Brown, Yellow
and Sevres Blue.

1st Firing
Start by painting the pattern with Yellow for the centre of the flowers, White for Flowers for the morning glories, and touches of Purple of Violet Iron to give the flowers a soft shadow where needed.
The leaves were painted with
Antique Green.
Purple Violet of Iron was applied to the top and sides of the plate.
Fire to cone 018, to achieve a matte finish.

2nd Firing
Repeat process of 1st Firing.

3rd Firing
Repeat the process of 2nd Firing.
Fire to cone 018

4th Firing
Shadow leaves were done on top and sides of the piece using
Purple Violet of Iron and Rich Brown.
At this stage, the buds and stems were added.

5th and 6th Firings
Shadows were darkened and a very soft
wash of Sevres Blue was applied in
3 spots.
