Major George Leslie Williams
Major Williams, CO of 318 Battery, 92nd (Loyals) Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment, Royal Artillery, led the battery during and after the D-Day operation.
He was killed on August 3, 1944 near Reviers, Normandy, and is buried at Bayeux War Cemetery. Major Williams, married with a daughter, came from Meols, Hoylake, Cheshire, England. He had lost his only brother - Second Lieutenant Ronnie Williams - in France in 1940.
