| Thank you for visiting www.lacfp.org! Light A Candle For Peace is an organization working to dissolve fear and heal the divisions within our world. We rebuild communities through a common effort that lights the way to peace for individuals, families, their neighborhoods and communities. Light A Candle For Peace brings the community together and creates an environment of harmony from which other peace efforts will grow. At an individual level, lighting a candle for peace each day in our homes helps us to remember and experience the love, happiness and peace within each of us. It reminds us that each person is important and that as we come together with a common purpose, we make a difference. LACFP is a wonderful way to focus and unite us. It's simple, effective -- and takes but a few moments each day. The message is: A) To bring the golden light of the candle flame, as a symbol of pure love, into our Hearts and allow that love to awaken and balance each cell as it travels through our body fields; and B) To send that love out to our families and friends, to our comunities, to encircle the Earth and travel out to all life. This reinforces that Love is the answer - Love's Truth dissolves the Mask of Fear and helps us remember that we are all part of one community. "Our problems are man made, therefore, they can be solved by man. For in the final analysis, our most basic common link is: that we all inhabit this small planet, we all breathe the same air, we all cherish our children's future and we are all mortal." John Fitzgerald Kennedy Let your heart speak. Become an ambassador for peace! In this crucial time, we urge you to include your voice in this mission made possible by many voices joined together as one. Choose Peace and Happiness! Let this energy of goodwill weave together all generations, all beliefs, all races and all cultures. May Peace Prevail On Earth Since l983, the United Nations has observed an International Day of Peace on the opening day of the United Nations General Assimbly. This year, September ll, 2001 was the chosen day on which a Culture of Peace week was scheduled to begin with a Moment of Silence and to conclude on September 18 with Hear the Children's Day of Peace. The WE THE PEOPLES initiative is designated by the U.N. as the vehicle to oversee this Peace Messenger initiative. It is dedicated to our children and the future of all of our children. The Partner and coordinating Secretariat for this plan is Pathways To Peace. As an expression of the WE THE PEOPLES initiative, delegates to the U.N. and citizens of many nations will join in a Moment of Silence at noon in each time zone, lighting a candle and sending that light wave of Peace around the world for 24 hours. LACFP held special ceremonies that week even though the U.N. cancelled it's plans because of the September llth attacks. The U.N. subsequently established a permanent date, September 21, as the designated International Day of Peace. We are a paraticipating organization in Pathways To Peace and are honored to be part of the United Nations "We The Peoples" initiative. |
