Full Summary: Upon seeing a dog in HQ, Hawkeye asks what it's doing there. Naturally, Falman goes into a whole rant about the characteristics of the canine species, and Hawkeye comments that that wasn't the response she was looking for. Feury then picks up the dog and says that he found the poor guy out in the rain, and so he decided to bring it in so that it could stay warm.

Havoc asks Feury if he's really going to keep the dog, but Feury says that he cannot, seeing as the dormatories don't allow pets. He then starts asking various people if they can take the puppy in. Falman can't, since he's also in the dormatories. Breda, meanwhile, is deathly terrified of dogs. Havoc offers to take it in, but then starts going into a whole (teasing) rant about how dogs are a delicacy in certain countries, at which time Hawkeye promptly returns the pup to the terrified Feury.

The next ones to be asked are Ed and Al, who say that they can't take care of it because they're constantly on the move and taking care of a pet would be too big a responsability. (It is then revealed that Alphonse is hiding a kitten inside his armor, at which time the brothers run off, Edward chasing the fleeing Alphonse.)

Roy then comes in and says excitedly that he loves dogs. Feury is beaming - he thinks he's finally found someone to care for the little guy - when Roy starts going into a rant about how dogs are loyal without question, sort of like mankind's slaves. This terrifies Feury, but then Roy suggests perhaps asking Lieutenant Hawkeye.

Feury does, in fact, end up asking Hawkeye, and she decides to take in the pup. Feury is exstatic that he's found the dog an owner, and apparently, the dog is happy too, as it pees excitedly on the wall. Hawkeye is not one to have nonsense like that, however, and promptly shoots five bullets from her gun at the wall near the puppy. Everyone in the room (especially Feury and the dog) become terrified, and Hawkeye teaches the terrified dog to use its litterbox. The other officers in the room decide that from that point on, none of them are going to cross Lieutenant Hawkeye.

On the page directly following this chapter, Hawkeye names the dog Black Hayate. Mustang comments that she has very little, if any, naming sense.
