Authoress note: Happy 2006 to everyone.

I was worried about some OOC in this chapter especially but then I realized that there’s no actual point in the games where the characters are happy so hence I have nothing to base this chapter on so can it really be OOC? Oh well if you think it is then I give you my apologies.

“Did you need to be so . . . enthusiastic?” Ariel asked standing over the mutilated corpse of the daemon

“Yes,” Raziel snapped “it’s this bastards,” he kicked the corpse, getting entrails on his boot “fault that I was forced to come all the way down to Meridian in the middle of winter and nearly DIE from the cold.”

“Has anyone ever told you how over dramatic you are?” Ariel muttered frowning, Raziel was about to answer but stopped when he saw her expression, the former balance guardian had a look of confusion but it was slowly becoming one of dread and fear.

“What?” he asked looking away from the still steaming body of the daemon; several of the locals were now approaching the carcass in morbid fascination.

“The daemon is dead,” Ariel said bluntly “so surely the feeling of . . . well the weight in the air, the smell, the . . . the . . . green should be gone.”

“And it isn’t?” Raziel sighed loudly; he just knew it wouldn’t be that simple.

“It’s getting stronger.” Ariel answered.

Chapter Three

The mansion was warm and dry after Raziel returned from Meridian, it was everything he remembered, filled with food, soft beds, comfortable chairs and ‘mildly’ pleasant people. He could have quiet contently remained there for the rest of the winter in a warm soft bliss that he would never ever get tired of. But despite this fact he still found himself trudging through snow, heading towards the pillars cursing a blue streak as he did so. Wondering why on Nosgoth Kain would not be in the mansion curled in a chair possibly near a fire, or even better a bed, or even better a bed with food next to it, with soft sheets and a hungry look in his eye; Raziel shock his head, no he was angry with his father he would not let his own lusts cloud or dissuade his anger until he had made Kain apologize for keeping him out in this cold . . . Bastard.

Raziel had been looking forward to returning home to the mansion, the few nights away had chilled him and had left him wanting. He would have to remember to cut down on sex, it was making being apart a lot more difficult than it really should be . . . but why should he cut down! He’d been through hell and back to get this peace so why not enjoy it.

“I would enjoy it if he was in the bloody right place to enjoy it with,” Raziel mumbled to himself “but no he had to be out bloody side in the cold and the wet and the cold and the wet.” The pillars seemed to be further away than he remembered, no doubt the damn guardians had lifted the pillars and had moved them an extra mile away from he mansion just to annoy him, in all honesty it wouldn’t have surprised the young vampire if this had been the case. He was close now and he could smell his father which sent a pleasant little shiver down his spine but that shiver was all but ignored in the face of something more powerful; he could feel the agitation coming from Kain and the pillars in waves almost strong enough to knock him down. The anger and frustration Raziel had felt evaporated from him in moments to be replaced by that same feeling of dread that Ariel had shown in Meridian. Wincing Raziel broke through the woods into the clearing in which the pillars rested. Kain stood at the center of them as he usually did; he had his back to Raziel.

“I know your there Raziel.” Kain breathed and Raziel smiled a little as Kain turned to face him a small forced smile on his face that only lasted a moment. Raziel stepped up onto the marble base and came to stand next to his father, his hand reaching out to touch on Kain’s arm, Kain moved as if to shake the touch away but stopped himself and moved pulling Raziel against him, making Raziel frown harder, something was bothering him, bothering him more than Raziel had expected.

“Whats wrong?” he asked feeling the tension even more so now that he was touching his father

“I was hoping you could tell me,” Kain smirked, absently resting his chin on his child’s head, Raziel whined and pushed him back and taking a few steps away, hoping the distance would help him think of something other than the warmth coming from his father, “there was nothing in Meridian?” Kain frowned

“There was a daemon,” Raziel muttered watching his father’s face fall “but that’s not the problem.” Kain’s eye brows rose in curiosity as if interested in the situation but the expression was spoilt by the bare, naked hunger in his eyes. Both knew they should be focusing on the problem at hand but both found it increasingly difficult, being close after being apart left them both at odds.

“What is the problem then?” Kain asked moving towards his child until he was standing close enough to press the lines of their bodies together and Raziel smiled feeling just how hungry his father was against him, he turned to press himself against Kain to let him know he was equally as wanting, he felt more than heard the soft chuckle.

Tilting his head up reaching to . . .

“I hate to interrupt,” a voice called from above them and both looked up with venom in their eyes as Janos landed on the marble near them

“Janos,” Raziel smiled at the blue winged ancient and tried to pull back from his father but found he wasn’t moving as Kain was not willing to let him go “whats wrong?”

“I had the feeling you were just about to say whats wrong,” Janos smiled noticing how Kain’s claws were biting into Raziel’s coat and how he was watching Janos with barely hidden anger; Janos felt mildly sorry for the scion, the poor creature had been feeling the imbalance for longer than the rest of them and was more in tune to such disturbances so was feeling it stronger. He needed an outlet, he’d been using his games with Vorador since they had taken Raziel away from him and now Raziel was back he quiet clearly wanted to be alone with his childe.

“I killed the daemon but the energy increased,” Raziel half hissed as his father slowly moved his leg, deliberately rubbing up against his child, tormenting. “It seemed to be coming in over the water.”

“The water?” Janos mussed “indeed, well I think I will have to look into this, I believe I will go speak with the guar . . .” before he could finish, Kain had teleported both himself and his fledgling from the pillars. Janos smirked he’d been deliberately trying to see how long it took one of them to break, in honesty he had thought it would have been Raziel, having being the most needy of the pair but as before he was proven wrong.

They had teleported perfectly which was slightly unusual as Kain was still only just getting the hang of teleporting once again. Normally he over shot or undershot but today his concentration seemed perfect as they appeared in his room with Raziel pinned beneath him mouths crushed together. Raziel was slightly surprised at the raw hunger in his father but realized quickly that he didn’t care as his own hunger rose up like a tidal wave and washed over him leaving him almost mindless. He pressed up hard into his father feeling Kain’s claws snap through the lacings on his coat tearing the warm garment away from him nearly breaking his arms. The pants went next as they were almost shredded, thankfully though Vorador did still seem to have a never ending stash of the hard wearing pants. He was rewarded with a small grunt when he reached up to do the same for his father, and the tight grip on him loosened slightly as Kain seemed to realize that Raziel wasn’t going anywhere. Raziel used the brief moment of relaxation to turn them both, forcing his father down and pulling the pants from him in a smooth motion. He leaned down once more to kiss his father, Kain made a soft purring sound and sucked hard on his tongue, while trailing claws softly over his Childs now bare back. Raziel hissed in surprise as a claw slid down his back to find his entrance and traced it lightly. Pulling back suddenly he hissed louder feeling the heat move through him burning him from the inside and knowing that once wouldn’t be enough for either of them, he smiled. The fact that they’d probably still be in here this time tomorrow, meant that they had plenty of time for a more tender reunion later.

The fledgling vampire growled hoarsely as he slid down, lapping at the blood sweat building on his father, he was very pleased to feel his father’s chest heaving already; throwing thoughts aside he slid lower moving between Kain’s legs licking at his father’s length, purring to himself as Kain shivered at his touch; he loved the effect he could have on him with such a simple action. Smirking he took the tip between his lips, dipping his tongue into the slit, teasing, before taking the entire length into his mouth and down his throat. His smirk grew wider at the chocked cry his action wrenched from his father, and he hummed appreciatively when clawed hand’s found his hair and settled in it gripping tightly, almost enough to hurt. He tongued the veins he could feel pulsing beneath the skin and felt his fangs grow longer, it had been too many nights since they had been together and too many nights since he’d tasted pure blood. Starved and wanting to hurry on Raziel swallowed deep into his throat and drew hard. The noise his father made at the action almost made Raziel stop as it sounded more pained than he’d ever heard from Kain in the past and one of the glass panes in the window cracked; but the grip tightening in his hair let him know it was far from pain and once again Raziel drew hard, and again Kain sounded as if he were in true pain as he came violently into his child’s mouth. The crack that had appeared in the large windows on the other side of the room widened and continued to grow until the window pane shattered and Kain settled back against the sheets. Raziel couldn’t help but smile, he loved the fact that it was only him who could make Kain lose control of his magic and of his body like this. Kain ‘ahem’ed’ getting his child’s attention back on him, he was exhausted, but far from sated. Raziel stared and his father’s still hard member and chuckled.

"Still not satisfied?" he smirked, Kain sat up bringing them close together

“It will take a lot more than you to exhaust me,” he muttered his breath heavy; eyes still alight as he rolled his child onto his back. “I believe I have mentioned something of this nature before.” Raziel smirked as he turned his head and swallowed the first two fingers on his father’s left hand, avoiding the sharp tips. Kain was obviously just as impatient as his child for after a few scant moments he pulled his fingers back and slid them down, till the tips of his claws played a dangerous game against Raziel’s entrance. Raziel felt his eyes roll back as the first claw found its entrance followed sharply by a second. It hadn’t really been that long, he knew in the past he had gone longer without being touched but for some reason anytime spent apart now felt like a lifetime and left him feeling like a virgin all over again. Kain gently probed within him until he began to loosen, then added a third finger, using them to stretch the tender walls, impatient but not unkind. Raziel hissed loudly and began to move against his father, trying to get him to press more into his prostate; Kain smirked and drew back a little so he just missed that little spot only occasionally reaching up and grazing it, tormenting his child. Raziel cried out and began to buck hard against him. Kain shivered, tormenting his child was on the top of his list of favorite things to do and absently he wondered how long it would take him to make his child climax with simply his fingers inside of him but right now the sound’s Raziel was making were threatening to undo him and with a snarl he pulled his hand back sharply, moving himself trying to ignore the triumphant smirk on his child’s mouth.

Kain let out a low growl as he slowly pushed into his child, he paused a moment, enjoying the feel of his child’s heat around him, and giving him time to get used to being filled again. But Raziel it seemed didn’t want time to adjust as he began grinding against his father trying to get him to move, Kain let out a strained sound before he gave in and began to move, conscious of the fact that he could be hurting his fledgling. He felt claws trace over his chest and looked down at his child who was smirking up at him as he trailed claws down his father’s skin, bringing his nipples to points and making him gasp and lose his rhythm for a moment. Almost without thought Kain drove down, closing his mouth on his child’s throat and breaking the skin, Raziel all out screamed as the skin broke and began to slam himself onto his father, his muscles moving without his command. It was always fast and brutal when they had been apart; even before the peace had been restored it had been like this, when Kain would leave sanctuary to explore the northern caves only to return a month later they would greet each other in this fashion, fast, violent and intense.

Determined to send his child over the edge first, Kain moved a hand to grip his child’s bucking member and began to stroke in time to his quickening thrusts. It did not take long before both went hurtling over the edge. Somewhere in the south wing Vorador’s ears pricked up the sound and he mumbled jealous words under his breath, where was his sire anyway?

“I should go away more if it gets me treatment like that,” Raziel mused absently running fingers through his father’s hair, Kain mumbled something against his shoulder which he was currently leaning against before stirring at his Childs insides with his hips. “Your stamina is remarkable,” Raziel murmured drawing his father up for another kiss.

“Like I said before it will take more than you,” Kain smirked pleased to have out done his child.

“You ate Steve!” Kain sounded well and truly hurt by the fact that ‘Steve’ was gone

“And it made him sick for the entire night,” Sebastian grumbled staring at Magnus who now looked like a ghost of his former self “spoiled my night, and I had stuff planned.”

“So sorry to be a burden,” Magnus mumbled, Sebastian made a face but it faded quickly and an expression of pity took its place and he wrapped arms around his brother, “that’s better,” Magnus murmured leaning into his brother’s embrace.

“But . . .” Kain spluttered “Steve! What did Steve ever do to you?”

“What the hell are you talking about?” Raziel asked as he entered the room wrapped in one of Vorador’s robes, it was three sizes to big and swamped the small vampire making him appear even smaller. Kain turned to face his child, pointing a shaking claw at Magnus and Sebastian “they ate Steve! Bastards!”

“Who was Steve?” Raziel asked but was ignored

“I wanted to be there when he took his first steps!” Kain snapped “now he’s dead.”

“It was never alive!” Magnus muttered “it was chewy though.” He leaned his face into Sebastian’s hand the cool flesh soothing him.

“You really are bored.” Janos sighed entering the room looking grave,

“Poor Steve.” Kain muttered as Raziel came and sat on the floor at his feet, absently a white clawed hand buried itself in Raziel’s hair, stroking down his neck as his child’s head rested on his knee, almost cat like.

“Well I have something that may elevate your boredom,” Janos did not look pleased about this, absently Kain murmured something else about Steve and Janos glared “it seems the energy you felt was coming from the ancient city of the Hylden.” Janos sighed sitting down putting his head in his hands, Kain hissed under his breath while Raziel looked uncomfortable.

“The what now?” Sebastian’s ears perked up

“The ancient city of the Hylden, a most ancient race one who apposed my own they were . . .” Janos began but was interrupted by Kain.

“The Hylden and the vampires don’t like each other.” He said bluntly “we fought, I fought them once and as a result of these fights they were sealed off in a parallel dimension.” Sebastian blinked and Magnus looked blankly at Kain who sighed loudly “Hylden not nice.” He said simply rolling his eyes.

“I was going to say that before I was interrupted,” Janos grumbled, Kain shrugged, leaning back closing his eyes as if uncomfortable

“If you would have told the story we would still be here this time next year.” He mumbled, Janos swallowed hard and seemed to be counting to ten, the ancient did not have the same legendry patience he once possessed

“However despite the location I do not think this is the Hylden.” Janos said slowly, deliberately. Raziel’s eyes opened at this and he seemed pleased “the energy is not the same, it has resemblances . . . and only some resemblances to the creature you . . . pushed back three years ago.”

“so you think,” Sebastian started but stopped when his brother flinched and seemed to be about to throw up, while Magnus dry heaved, Sebastian made soothing noises rubbing his brothers shoulders and Kain muttered once again about poor ‘Steve’ getting his revenge on Magnus’ digestive system Janos took up where Sebastian left off.

“We think that what ever that thing was before is using the Hylden’s gateway to try and come through again.”

“Why come through there though?” Raziel asked

“The Hylden used it because it is the furthest point on Nosgoth from the pillars, this creature may be using it because of that but also the binding will be somewhat weaker there.” Kain answered flicking Raziel’s ear

“I blame myself,” Janos breathed we knew that the city was another weak spot, why did I not think to destroy their gateway?”

“I already did that,” Kain frowned “the nexus stone, I used it to destroy the gateway, and the entire building went up in green flame.”

“You closed it, this is true and we have blocked the weakness over Avernus . . . I don’t see how they could be getting through.”

“Maybe because you are applying bandages to axe wounds.” Raziel answered, everyone frowned at the young vampire currently being petted by his father “you apply temporary solutions to eternal problems.” The fledgling yawned widely and leaned back against his father eyes closing as if to sleep.

“I fear you may be right,” Janos admitted “but I am unsure of what to do,” he looked up as Vorador entered the room, the emerald skinned vampire looked to his sire and smiled in a smug fashion, Janos gave him a stern look and Vorador looked disappointed before seeming to think for a moment

“We must check on all the dimensional hot spots, try to discover which one it is using and then try to come up with a permanent solution as how to seal them all.” Vorador said firmly, before once again regaining that smug expression. Kain sniggered at the expression before resuming his petting of his childe, Raziel made a small purring sound.

“But what could be a permanent solution?” Magnus asked, his dry heaves had stopped but his stomach was still churning from devouring ‘Steve’

“I do not know.” Vorador sighed his eyes falling on Raziel who was almost asleep on his father “is that my robe!”
