Creation
The final Act
Book Two
Disclaimer: Legacy of
Kain belongs to Edios and Crystal Dynamics not me. I am making £0.00 out of
this fic, it is written purely because I have a burning need to create.
Although I would like to own Vorador . . . then he’d be mine.
Warning: this fic
contains YAOI (GuyXGuy) and a lemon; if this offends or upsets you do
not read this, it that simple.
Rating: NC-17
Pairing: Raziel/Kain
Setting: post all games
EXPRESS WARNING: Spoilers for all the games.
Summery: An ending is in
sight but it is a long way off and the road leading to it has many twists,
turns and hidden dangers.
Authoress note: I decided to make this into a trilogy, I hope you have enjoyed
reading it as much as I have enjoyed writing it. It was fun to write something
set after the games, gave me a freedom you don’t normally get when writing
fanfiction. My only question is what the hell I am going to write next.

Chapter Six
Vande watched
as the daemons crashed through the door that had been barricaded, watched as
they pulled the fallen columns aside like they were made of paper. He flinched
as one was thrown, no wonder the vampires were panicking, and if he had had to
face this many daemons in a surprise attack he would have been panicking as
well. But despite knowing that they had the advantage he still felt fearful
towards this attack; the stories Raoul had told staying with him chasing
themselves around in his head. He walked forwards through the now shattered
courtyard at the front of the mansion, he paused as he stepped over the threshold
and glanced at what had been used to barricade the door, he frowned something
was wrong. The barricaded was weak, and looked almost as if it had been made as
an after thought; he shrugged to himself maybe the vampires were stupider than
he had thought maybe they had literally forgotten to barricade the door until
the last moment.
Once
inside he stopped and looked around in surprise, he had expected something
vile. Something both primitive and lurid beyond all reason or decadent and
arrogant but this place was neither, it was tasteful in décor and managed to
remain so even with the small group of daemons tearing up the hallway.
“How
peculiar.” He breathed and continued deeper into the mansion unaware of the
fact he was walking straight into a trap.
* * *
“They’ve
gone inside now.” Kain breathed as he landed pulling himself back together from
the many tiny bat bodies he had changed himself into to watch the daemons enter
the mansion. “There are some still in the swamp but not many, you should be
able to handle them.”
“No
problem.” Magnus smirked at the scion and taking a few of Vorador’s older
stronger brood with him made his way into the swamp to kill the remaining daemons.
“You think
they will be ok.” Vorador spoke softly, watching as Janos began leading the
fledgling they had taken from the mansion in the direction of the ancient
vampire’s pillar citadel.
“They’ll
be fine.” Kain breathed “as long as they are careful,” he looked up to the sky
waiting to see black wings when he realized that Janos and the ancients he had
called to aid him in getting everyone safely to the citadel, would not fly, it
was to easy to spot in the open sky.
“I meant
those inside the mansion.” Vorador breathed
“They will
be fine,” Kain smiled at his brothers’ worry, “Sebastian will take care of
them.”
“Not
Raziel?” Vorador noted, “You doubt him?” the scion shook his head at his brother’s
comment
“I trust him
to do this, I also trust that he will come back with some kind of injury due to
his lack of ability to think before he leaps, but he will be alright.”
“Lack of
ability to think, I wonder where he gets that from?” Vorador smirked, the humor
forced but making him smirk despite himself. “So how long do you think before
the Hylden notice something is up.”
“Oh a
while yet.” Kain answered.
* * *
There was
no one in the mansion.
Vande felt
his stomach drop, a trap, it was a trap somehow and they had walked right into
it. Before he could stop himself he started yelling a warning, but stopped
suddenly when something struck him; the strike was not hard more like something
to get his attention, which instantly set off warning bells in his mind.
Unfortunately when he turned to see what seemed to be a young vampire his mind
froze and all warnings stopped. The young vampire was poised to fight and Vande
gripped the hilt of his weapon tightly raising it up, the cries of the daemons
behind him made him more confident. The vampire in front of him was no giant,
he was a fraction shorter than Vande and Vande was not tall for a Hylden; the
vampire was not spitting fire or rending him asunder and Vande had daemons
under his control, maybe Raoul had been wrong about the vampires.
“Rahab!”
another vampire appeared behind the one that Vande was facing, this one was
bigger but still no giant, it looked stronger than Vande would have liked but
it moved slowly, his confidence rose up again. “Rahab don’t be insane!” the other
vampire shouted “come on! Run!” the one named Rahab seemed to consider this
before straightening and turning tail. Vande watched astonished as the vampire fled
the larger one ducking back into a different hallway.
“It . . .
it ran away from me!” Vande smiled to himself before letting out a cry of
surprised joy and confidence before pursuing the fleeing vampire daemons
following blindly behind him.
* * *
Raziel had
to admit to himself he was enjoying this far too much.
He had
already lead three different groups of Hylden and daemons in circles, gotten
them all so lost in the depths of the mansion that they would have little hope
of making it out alive. He couldn’t help but laugh out loud to himself
unfortunately his laughter was cut short when he ran blindly into one of the
largest lightening daemons he had ever seen. With an unpleasantly loud curse he
readied himself to fight but then remembering his promise to his father not to
fight he turned and ran, predictably the daemon followed. It was slow but
seemed to enjoy sending small bolts of energy ahead of itself at him, twice he
felt the electrical energy burn his arm and twice he healed. Leading the daemon
deeper into the subterranean levels he decided to avoid further injury and
ducked into one of the tunnels in the walls, reminding himself to thank Vorador
for installing them.
“Raziel?”
the voice of Dumah made the reaver jump,
“Thanks
for that.” He hissed, before smiling at his brother who looked surprised
“Your
enjoying this aren’t you.” Dumah snapped, Raziel made a face,
“And your
not?” he confronted; Dumah looked awkward for a moment before smiling “I knew
it!” Raziel laughed “have you seen anyone else?”
“Rahab
should be on his way to the basement tunnel now.” Dumah nodded “I think Sebastian’s
already there.”
“I think
we’ve lead them in circles long enough by now,” Raziel smirked “I think they’re
all to lost to make it out when Kain brings this place down.” He and his
brother turned and walked the short distance out from the subterranean level to
the basement, remaining in the secret walk ways until they reached where they
were supposed to meet and wait for everyone before escaping the mansion thus
giving the scion the all clear to bring the building crashing down, crushing
and hopefully killing all daemons.
“I was
beginning to wonder where you were.” Sebastian snapped, he was alone waiting
for them, Magnus having been told to remain outside with Vorador and Kain to
wipe out any daemons that remained outside when the majority entered the
mansion.
“We’re
here, we’re here keep your trousers on.” Dumah grumbled, then looked around
confused “where Rahab?” his voice holding a note of worry for his brother and
no longer so secret lover. Raziel went to tell him not to worry when he was
interrupted.
“Are you planning to vacate any time soon?”
Kain’s voice came in his head like wind. “We’re
getting rather bored out here.”
“We’re
waiting for Rahab.” Sebastian spoke “we’ll head out when he gets here, don’t
bring the place crashing down around us.” He looked at those of Kain’s brood
“your fathers very impatient but I think we still have a few minuets before
he’ll bring this place down.”
* * *
Vande was
ready to scream.
“They
still here!” one of the more articulate daemons hissed in a voice like gravel.
Vande and his group of five Daemons had tracked the young vampire down into the
basement before losing him and the Hylden was not happy.
“Where is
he!” he snapped storming down one of the few hallways, cursing vampires and daemons
alike.
“Smell
this way.” The daemon spoke again and ran down a different corridor to Vande
who reluctantly followed, a lightening daemons nose was usually reliable, but
Vande had doubts, the vampires had lived here for God knows how long, this
place stank of them. He stopped suddenly when he heard something, footsteps he
was sure of it, he could hear footsteps.
“Wait,” he
hissed at the daemons who instantly obeyed, the silence was thick for a moment
before something made a loud clunk sound and a whispered curse followed it.
“Their in the walls!” Vande yelled and at his command the daemons tore into the
walls.
* * *
Raziel
jumped when the sound of tearing rubble reach him, and a bedraggled, bleeding
Rahab burst into the basement tunnel.
“They
know!” he gasped “they know about the tunnels.”
“RUN!”
Sebastian yelled and shoved against Dumah who fled up the tunnel that would
lead them out, ripping out supports on his way up.
Raziel
felt his heart hammer as the tunnel started collapsing around them but he knew
it was necessary; they had to stop the daemons getting out. The reaver spirit
raced up the tunnel between Sebastian and Rahab. He knew they were near the
exit when he heard Sebastian start to shout to Kain.
“Now!
Kain! NOW!” and for a moment the reaver went deaf as magic surrounded them and
rushed into the mansion, Kain wasn’t trying to be subtle this time and forcing
the magic into the mansion made the ground shake and the mansion started to
crumble, brocks and mortar started to fall around him as Raziel breached the
tunnel just before the entire building fell like it was made of paper and the
world went black.
* * *
Raziel
came to with a pounding headache.
“You’re
awake.” Zephon smiled, as he and Dumah leaned over their fallen brother “Kain
brought the place down a moment to soon and you got hit.”
“Bastard.”
Raziel tried to sit up and the world span for a moment before coming into focus
“probably did it on purpose.” He looked around trying to spot his father,
Zephon noted his look and smiled “he’s over with Vorador and a few others
ripping apart anything that comes out of the rubble alive.” Raziel got to his
feet and looked to where Zephon had pointed; Kain was indeed sending small
spells into the rubble when ever something moved, Raziel winced as a surviving daemon
got hit by a bolt of energy and its skin rotted from its bones in a matter of
seconds. Kain had some truly brutal spells at his disposal.
“Kain . .
.” he called with the intention of showing his father he was alive, awake and
pissed off at him in that order “well done with the mansion couldn’t have
waited an extra mo . . .”
“Wait a
minuet.” Dumah interrupted, they both stopped as Dumah looked around, Raziel
turned away from his father who seemed to be quiet amused firing off controlled
little bursts of lightening at the few daemons trying to crawl out of the
rubble. Dumah was looking around becoming more fretful by the moment, Raziel
walked up to his brother.
“Dumah?”
he spoke, a strange feeling of dread in his stomach “Dumah?” Dumah turned to
him,
“Have you
seen Rahab?” Dumah’s voice was shaking ever so slightly, Raziel felt his
stomach clench hard, he hadn’t seen Rahab since . . .
“He was
behind me in the tunnels.” Raziel breathed “when they collapsed.” The reaver spirit cursed colorfully under his
breath and turning walked to his father. “Kain.” Raziel snapped, “We can’t find
Rahab.”
“Isn’t he
with Dumah?” Raziel shook his head in answer and Kain frowned before becoming
very still for a moment, Raziel recognized the stillness as the same one that
overcame vampires when they communicated telepathically or through the whisper,
which all even non-telepathic vampires could use. Kain snapped out of the
stillness quickly and frowned hard turning around.
“Vorador?”
Kain called to his brother, Vorador’s ears snapped up and he turned to his
brother and walked over “have you seen any of mine?” Kain asked, Vorador
frowned and pointed over to where Zephon and Melchiah were fussing over some of
Vorador’s younger fledglings. “Rahab in particular.” Kain sighed and Raziel
felt his stomach clench again, Vorador shook his head.
“Oh.” Kain
breathed, he considered something for a moment before reaching out with his
mind, tapping into the connection he felt with all his children. Melchiah and
Zephon were over to his left, talking with some fledglings Dumah was near him
and becoming more frantic by the moment, Turel was on his way to the ancients
citadel and Raziel was near him also becoming frantic . . . he searched again
for Rahab and once again found nothing. He tried again knowing now that he
wouldn’t find anything.
He looked
to Dumah as he opened his eyes and shook his head.
Dumah
froze for a moment going completely still and silent. Raziel however was not
still, he turned and walked away from both his father and brother but after a
few steps he came back.
“You’re
sure.” He asked his voice cracking on the edge of breaking at the thought of
losing his brother, he’d been right behind him, right behind him and Raziel had
gotten hit with rubble . . . Rahab must have . . .
“You’re
wrong.” Dumah spoke calmly to his father, his voice was not angry or afraid
anymore it was as if he had forgotten his emotion of a moment ago and had
somehow found a certainty. Kain lent forward to try and explain to his son how
he knew Rahab was no longer alive or undead or dead what ever expression one
wished to use to describe vampiric existence. But he stopped when something
familure caught his nose. He wasn’t sure how he knew this scent but he
defiantly knew it and it was important. Raziel looked at him confused and Dumah
looked as if he would shout but before anyone could do or say anything two
Hylden emerged from the rubble, a tall one with a powerful build and in his
arms was a slight broken body, something young and female.
“It’s
him.” Kain said fiercely, again he didn’t know how he knew but he did, he knew
that that slight and broken young body was what was causing their problems, he
knew it in the way he knew a portal had been opened, the way he knew that
portal didn’t lead to the Hylden dimension. He jerked forward, trying to give
chase but was jerked back by a grip on his arm.
“We have
to find Rahab.” Dumah was no longer calm; he looked frantic, blood tears
streaming down his face. Without thought Kain yanked on his arm again trying to
free himself and give chase to the Hylden who were now disappearing into the
woods, but it was a feeble attempt. “Please!” Dumah’s voice was broken now.
“Alright.”
Kain breathed “we’ll go find your brother.”
He had
given up on a chance to save the land to find a child he already knew to be
dead. But the enemy was hurt badly, he may die on his own, and if not he would
hunt him later and make him pay for what he had done to them, or rather made
them do to themselves.
* * *
“The
mansion is gone?” the ancient guardian of nature seemed surprised “I did not
know you suffered also.” the pillars citadel was damaged having sustained a
small attack of their own. Luckily the numbers of daemons attacking the citadel
was much smaller than the force which attacked the mansion; the ancients were
able to defend themselves with only minimal loses.
“But what
do you mean gone?” Conflict frowned “how can it simply be gone?”
“Well.”
Kain huffed “it’s not gone as such its just broken.” Vorador made a small impatient
noise behind the scion who sighed “we used it to kill the daemons; we collapsed
it ourselves after luring them inside.”
“Oh . . .
well.” Nature still looked surprised, Kain looked to him. Out of all the
ancient guardians, he seemed able to stand the ancient guardian of nature,
Nature listened when others spoke and was less closed minded to new ideas. “We’ll
have to see about rebuilding it.”
“We can do
it.” Vorador snapped not wanting help from the ancient guardians but knowing he
needed it “we just need a place to stay until then.”
“Then you
are most welcome here.” Nature said firmly before any could object.
“I hope
that includes all of us.” Raziel snapped, the guardians looked at him strangely
for a moment before realizing a Hylden youth stood beside him. They had heard
rumors of Demitri of course but they believed them to be rumors and nothing
more, it was quiet different having one of the ancient enemy in their own home.
“You
brought one here!” Conflict snapped, lifting a spear which was ripped from his
hands by the scion and snapped over his thigh.
“Yes we
did.” Kain said firmly “he is . . . on our side.” Demitri frowned at the Scions
use of words but said nothing. “He can prove a point that I would like to
discuss with you at some point.”
* * *
More
chairs had been brought from other areas of the stronghold into the hall. The
hall itself had survived the attack without a scratch
“We need
to know how many others were attacked.” Raziel started, Vorador nodded
“I have already
sent Umah and those who she chose to go to other strongholds and dwellings to
see the extent of these synchronized attacks.” The emerald vampire seemed to
have recovered a little from the destruction of his home and was busy organizing
the re-build. Although he had agreed work would not start until this ‘threat’
had been removed from their land as construction would be too risky and they
needed everyone ready for battle.
“We need
more information about what this creature is.” Nature spoke up when Vorador
fell quiet “you say he calls himself a god?” Raziel nodded
“He was
hurt in the mansion.” Raziel swallowed knowing what was coming
“And you
let him get away!” Mind stood, enraged “you had a chance to stop this and you
did nothing!” Kain growled warningly under his breath, remembering his third
eldest who was now unconscious in one of the rooms in the floor bellow; having
lost his brother he had given himself to his grief but had made it clear he
wanted the enemy to pay and when a course of action was decided on he wanted to
be at the front line.
“We know
something now.” Kain breathed “we know that not all the Hylden are involved.”
He looked to Demitri who stood shakily. The Hylden youth had been quiet and
subdued before but since the death of his wife and subversion of his daughter
he had grown quieter and hardly moved at all unless provoked.
“Well . .
.” he swallowed “I . . . um I recognized some of those who were of my race.”
“Well I
suppose you . . .” Death began but was cut off by a glare from Raziel and
Vorador, “but he’s . . .”
“He is
trying to speak!” Janos snapped, many frowned at his reaction, for in the
mansion it was well known Janos was not fond of Demitri. The ancient recognized
the fact that the war was a mistake and he recognized the fact that Demitri was
born after and was harmless but still he was a Hylden and the hatred that had
grown larger over the many, many years was not simply going to vanish, so it
was a surprise to see the ancient defend the Hylden.
“Thank
you.” Demitri dipped his head to the ancient who refused to look at him, “but I
know them, they are followers of Raoul, whose lust for vengeance seemed
somewhat . . . extensive even in our world.”
“What he’s
trying to say, is that these are extremists.” Vorador breathed “and that maybe
we should not judge the entire race by these ones actions.”
“While I .
. . understand what you are saying to us.” Nature spoke slowly “I wish we could
focus on the point and worry about judgments and such after this has been dealt
with.”
“We need
to know where they are, how many there are, what they are trying to achieve.”
Mind stated but once again he was interrupted by Raziel
“Why don’t
we write them a note?” He lifted his hands and mimed writing “Dear Hylden and
unidentified-God-like-entity would you mind . . .”
“Raziel.”
Kain stopped his child; Raziel dropped his hands and sighed
“We need
to take care of those lost.” Vorador breathed, he had lost a few of his own
children and was saddened by the loss.
“Then we
will speak with fate again.” Nature said decisively, the other guardians nodded
and stood as if that was the end of the meeting. As they left the room Kain
frowned,
“Every
time something goes wrong they run to fate.” He grumbled, “Can they not stand
on their own feet that they need to be propped up by some vague and pointless
entity.” The scions temper was flaring irrationally since the loss of his
child.
“Kain,”
Vorador warned as the scion rose to his feet and walked from the room.
“Wonderful.” Vorador breathed as the door slammed.
