Boredom
{Kain}
He was not
going to admit it.
Nope.
Nothing
was wrong here. Everything was as it should be, and that was, in itself, the
problem. Kain sighed loudly to himself and wondered about his own nature for a
few moments. He was never happy, when things were going horribly, hideously,
hopelessly wrong, he hated it, when things went slightly wrong it was very
frustrating and now he found that when things went smoothly he hated this as
well. So from these thoughts Kain had concluded that he was constantly fated to
be miserable. He sighed loudly hating the fact that he was finding a point of
similarity between himself and the surviving mortal’s who pottered about the
land. They complained when it rained, they complained when it was hot and they
complained when it was cold. So very much like himself
at the moment.
Kain
sighed again, instantly irritated with himself for doing so. Everything was
perfect at the moment, his children were all keeping
in line. Melchiah was as usual hiding in his necropolis, a foul place that
reeked to the high heavens especially in the current heat. Zephon and Dumah had
actually stopped feuding, the heat defeating them as well. Rahab and Turel had
always kept to themselves and now that was no different and Raziel was calmly
wondering the halls of the sanctuary looking for his father. The elder vampire
smirked to himself; it was unlikely Raziel would find him here any time soon.
The boy lacked the common sense to follow his nose.
Kain
glanced around the room and wondered once again why he had come here, he’d been
wandering the sanctuary aimlessly now for the entire night. Anything to stave
off the current level of boredom that he would never admit to having. He
couldn’t yet tell what this room was for, it was simply a hollowed out chamber
beneath the sanctuary, it was empty save from himself
and the dust, a completely pointless room. Turning he walked out, back into the
hallway, these walks were seldom treaded, so far beneath the earth that many
had forgotten they were even here. They reminded him of the time before he had
had his children, the times when he himself was young and had wandered the land
in search of the circle. All of their homes had been like this, old, dusty and
dank with a faint smell of unused earth. He had become like them, he had become
like the circle for which he was now the only surviving member. How bazaar.
Absently
Kain turned again and began walking upwards towards the surface and to where he
could hear his eldest pottering about. Maybe Raziel would prove more
entertaining than dusty rooms and strange thoughts. Raziel had after all always
been a magnet for trouble.
End Ficlet
Authoress note: Random and completely pointless.
