Disclaimer: Legacy of Kain belongs to Edios and Crystal Dynamics not me. I am making £0.00 out of this fic, it is written purely because I have a burning need to create. Are you amazed by the fact that they are not mine . . . neither am I; I’m just a little disappointed.

I do however own Light.

Chapter Four: Lessons and a few new friendships

{Six months later}

“In the jungle the mighty jungle the lion sleeps tonight” Light sings quietly, slowly moving her pencil across the paper,

“How long do I have to sit here” Raziel whines

“In the jungle the quiet jungle the lion sleeps to night” Light ignores one of her muses

Janos frowns peering over the authors shoulder at the sketch, he points to Raziel’s left claw, Light nods and rubs out the claw before trying to re-draw it

“Near the village the peaceful village the lion sleeps tonight”

“My backsides going awfully numb” Raziel complains louder than before

“In the village the quiet village the lion sleeps to night” Light pokes her tongue out at the wraith and continues to draw “Hush my darling don’t fear my darling the lion sleeps tonight, hush my darling don’t fear my . . . done”

“Finally” Raziel stands and stretches listening contently as several joints click loudly, Light winces

“I hate that” she growls tail lashing

“Yeah well I hate posing for your sketches but I still do it” Raziel pouts

“Don’t pretend you don’t enjoy it” Light smiles “you’re just a big poser at heart”

“The last painting turned out quiet well” Kain mumbles from his position on Lights recliner that she conjured up after declaring the throne to uncomfortable

“You’re just saying that because it was of you” Raziel mumbles

“I can’t help it if I’m such a great muse can I, plus I don’t complain when she draws me” the master vampire rolled over on the recliner reaching on the floor for a cushion

Light rolls here eyes at her two muses and looks back to the sketch

“Damn you Kain you are not god” Lights laptop screeches

“Am to” Kain growls pulling the cushion over his head in a very un-godlike manner as he curled back up trying to return to sleep.

“Mail” Light purrs happily, but stops quiet quickly

“What is it” Janos asks leaning over the feline to get a better look at the laptop

“How the hell do you get to the nexus” Vorador asks lifting a brow from the book he’d lost himself in for the past half an hour

“Teleport” Light muttered wrapping her tail around her leg in a nervous fashion, Janos noticed this and placed a cloven claw on the feline shoulder

“You should go, they can teach you about who you are” he pressed “they can teach you to control what’s inside you better than I could”

Light sighed

//**//**// Three nights later //**//**//

The Nexus was a barren land, it reminded the feline of Meridian’s industrial quarter, the huge building housed the great machines used to keep the realms and worlds separate and keep the energy in them balanced.

Light adjusted her coat, she’d chosen her longest one in a vain effort to hide her tail, she did not want to be labelled a freak on her first day.

She swallowed and entered.

The insides of the main building was a maze and after an hour of fruitless wandering Light was getting worried and very, very lost, every corridor was the same, all the rooms empty of life, filled with books, chairs and strange machines.

With a light growl she turned to look behind her and collided with another.

“Sorry” both said at once, embarrassment heavy on their voices

Light opened her golden almond shaped eyes to look at her victim and saw a young girl the same apparent age as herself, the girl was clearly not quiet human, her hair was bright red, as were her eyebrows leading Light to believe it was not dye but natural. The girl blinked at Light and her eyes were a vibrant glowing blue.

Light was fascinated.

The girl seemed to be studying Light just as Light was studying her, taking in tail which was now exposed, large feline ears and golden almond shaped eyes. Light lowered her ears embarrassed, the girl blushed.

“Um you looking for the meeting” Light asks the strange one as they get to their feet

The shockingly red haired girl blinks vibrant blue eyes a few times

“Yes . . . no . . . oh wait yes” she smiles “you don’t know where it is, do you?”

Light smiled relived at least she wasn’t the only one lost and a little confused.

“I’m Light” she smiles widely showing cat fangs

“Banik” is the reply; a human hand clasps a feline paw in a shake

The two wander the corridors together occasionally bumping into other lost ones like themselves, eventually after joining a group of lost souls they find the meeting hall.

An elderly gentleman sporting a fantastic wolf-like tail glares at them, nearly every single one blushes.

“Students should be on time” he grumbled

a few others join the group in the meeting hall all looking properly ashamed at their lateness, Light watches amazed, never before had she seen another creature like herself yet in this small hall alone now sat at least thirteen creatures who had similar attribute to herself.

She had yet to notice anyone feline but so far had been making a list of all the mixed genetics and to say the least it was quiet long. No two were the same.

“Alright we shall begin now” the elder shouts out into the hall

“How do you write” Banik whispers, glancing at Light holding a pen carefully in her paw

“Oh” Light smirks “very carefully, usually with a laptop, not to keen on pens”

Suddenly the door swings open violently and a rather flustered boy enters, he looks around the room, eyes hidden behind sun glassed settle on Banik who waves. The Elder glares at the late comer.

Light watches as the boy makes his way towards them, his entire form covered in a long coat similar to her own, she smiles maybe he has a tail to.

“T-Man” Banik snaps “where the hell did you go”

“The vending machine was broke” the boy mumbled, he glanced at Light who offered a wobbly smile

“Oh” Banik smirked “Light this is T-Man my brother, T this is Light, she’s my new friend”

“Nice to meet you” T-Man smiles offering a hand, Light blinks at the clawed hand before shaking it with a paw

T-Man removes his coat showing demonic attributes, Light smiles feeling more comfortable, at least if she was a freak there would be others as well.

The elder rambled on for three hours before he let his captive audience go for a break.

“So where you from” T-Man asked

“Nosgoth” Light answered smiling

“I’ve heard of that place” T-Man nodded “I’m from the daemon dimension and Banik here lives on Moya, I’ll let her go into details about that”

“Living ship” Banik grinned

“Detailed” T-Man nodded rolling his eyes

“I don’t know about you guys but I’m absolutely famished” Banik snapped grabbing the other two’s wrists and pulling them in the direction of food.

“Mmmm” Banik grinned once food had been obtained “nothing like a well done bacon roll to make all your troubles go away” she paused “Stark would have loved this”

“Stark” Light asked

“My muse, he’s actually a shape-shifter but he prefers to be called stark” Banik shrugged

“Reminds me, I promised Ruri I’d bring her something back from here, she really wanted to come, maybe I’ll get her a jewel or something” T-man muttered “she liked the last chaos emerald once Rouge had let go of the damn thing”

“Huh” Light questions seriously confused

“Chaos emerald, I’m hunting them down” T-Man smirks proudly

“Oh” Light looks down to her coffee

“I plan to create the ultimate balance, the ultimate peace, there will be no wars, no death only peace” he smiled

“Sounds nice” Light agrees “but wont it get dull”

“What” T-Man asks.

“Well it might just be my muses, but they really seem to like to fight” she shrugs “maybe their just freaks”

“All vampires like to fight, its how they eat” T-man nods,

“You know their vampires” Light asks

“Told you I know Nosgoth, a little anyway” he smirks

Light opened her mouth to say more but as she did above her a large bell rang

“Dear god this place reminds me so much of college its scary” Banik muttered “college’s bacon was nicer though”

//**//**// Meeting Hall //**//**//

“The powers you hold now are nothing to what you will have once you learn to control them” the elder ranted “complete the basic training and it should unlock your power”

There was much mumbling among the audience

“I sense much new magic and knowledge amongst you, and despite your lateness I have high hopes for you all should you complete basic training, now go”

The group began to file out, ready to put their names up for the basic training,

“Hacker” the elder nodded to Banik “we need more like you these days, our databases are getting a little thin” Banik blushed and stepped outside

“A daemon” the elder nodded “I will expect great things from you boy” T-Man grinned and stepped aside

Light cursed, she didn’t want people knowing what she was, she hissed quietly, hacker, daemon both were strong and could use their power either way, and it wasn’t completely dark like hers was.

She gasped suddenly, what if the elder threw her out because of it, what if her power was evil despite what her muses said, hell her muses were a vampire and a soul devouring entity, oh god she was doomed.

“A necromancer” the elder grinned suddenly showing strange wolf like teeth, “haven’t seen one in years” Light swallowed loudly “put your name down then girl” he snapped Light did so quickly before bolting after her friends

“We make quiet a balance” Banik said after a few moments walking in silence Light flicked an ear “I find the prey, T-Man kills it and you raise it again” she sniggered, T-Man sighed wantonly

“I think this could be the start of something beautiful” T-Man smirks

//**//**// Eight months later //**//**//

A cloven claw shakes a bundle of covers; a bedraggled Light sticks her head out from them, she blinks blearily at Kain

“Your phones ringing” Kain mumbled, Light sighs and answers the call

“Meow”

Light!!” the feline author turned and looked at her alarm clock 5.15 am,

“What T-Man its stupid a clock in the morning what could you possibly want”

I killed fox boy again” T-Man sounded pleading

“Oh bloody hell” Light threw he phone across the room and rolled over pulling the pillow over her head

“LIGHT!!” the still working phone shrieked

“go-way” the feline muttered reaching out for something else to put on her head to dull out the shouts, a heavy but thin object reached her grasp, she yanked it.

“Light get off my arm” Raziel yanked his arm back

“Why are you on my recliner” the cat mumbled

“Comfortable”

“Yeah well move over your all bony”

“Thanks” Raziel snorts

“Well you are” Light grumbles rolling over, she collides with something less bony “this recliner isn’t made for three people”

“It’s the only soft thing here” Kain mumbles from the other side

“LIGHT”

The end

More Light adventures to come ^_^
