He sighed board. Watching through lazy eyes as the human forces moved to destroy this fledgling scum.

If what Hellsing has said was true and these were the type of vampires multiplying out of control then he had a duty to his people, not to Helsing, to put an end to them, to keep the older respectful nobles safe.

If he were free he would have hunted them as well. Freedom, was it that great a price to pay? Besides Helsing’s control would most likely be simple to break when ever he wished. It would not be forever.

Still a small voice nagged at him, he despised vampire hunters it was one of the reasons he had come to this damp island. Yet Helsing didn’t disgust him, Helsing wasn’t petty the way many others were. Would it really be so degrading? So wrong?

The end justifies the means. Freedom or capture, alone or together. It made little difference.

It was interesting to think about the proposition Helsing had made. Killing two birds with one stone as the saying went, destroying the fledgling scum and gaining power. Helsing had promised unimaginable power, but he was only human what kind of power could a mere human offer him?

A few shouts echoed back to him and he lifted his eyes to see the fledgling still fighting against the humans. Why were the humans taking so long to dispatch this one fledgling creature? Were they that weak?

A mental pulse echoed behind the shields he had put in place and he spared a glance to the necromancer. It was humiliating that he was so vexed by such a feeble looking human. The necromancer was continually sending mental jolts to him, keeping his shields in use and thus tiring him, stopping him from running by keeping him tired.

He mentally cursed his weakness, was this how it would always be? Was this how Helsing had planned on keeping him? Barley strong enough to walk? He wanted to spit in disgust but managed to control himself, just because he was weaker than he should be, there was no need to announce it to the world.

The fledgling let out a cry of joy and victory as another of the humans fell. Helsing turned and spoke

“This is what is happening all over the city here and Amsterdam, it maybe world wide” he paused a moment and shook his head then surprisingly he smiled “you look as disgusted as we are”

He sniggered quietly Helsing had said something right

“They draw attention to themselves; they fight those weaker than themselves and scavenge the cities like rats or starving dogs. They are scum. They will never be true vampires”

Helsing seemed pleased. And another human fell to the fledglings hands.

“Will you help us” Helsing asked

“Maybe I will” the vampire nodded to the human and stepped forwards

The fledgling paused as it saw him coming towards it; did it expect him to help? The vampire smirked at the fledgling before dipping his head slightly, the fledgling grinned showing small fangs and turned to the remaining human forces with a laugh.

A white gloved hand burst from the fledgling’s torso, black heart caught in its grip. The fledgling screamed and dusted instantly. The vampire smiled shaking his head. To easy.

The silence was deafening as the vampire returned to where Helsing stood.

“About this deal . . . “

“Alucard?” the vampire laughed quietly Helsing smiled and it wasn’t pleasant

“Yes I thought it quiet appropriate” the smile widened “now that your mine”

“Do not think for a moment that I am yours Helsing” the vampire said seriously “this agreement we have is delicate, if I were you I would not tamper with it so”

Helsing sighed deeply and rested his elbows on his desk before the vampire spoke again

“It is strange that you feel the need for ownership, but changing my name does not mean that you own me”

“Knowing something’s name gives you power over it” Helsing retorted

The vampire grinned widely before relenting

“Names mean little; they change as does everything else. My name has changed before and so it will again many times before I truly meet my end no doubt.” His grin changed to a sarcastic smirk “if you wish me to be ‘Alucard’ I will be, but changing my name means nothing”

“Very well” Helsing nodded “you have made your point Vampire”

The vampire laughed aloud

“You go to all this trouble and fuss to change my name then you do not use it” he shook his head grinning as he would to a child.

A servant knocked and entered the room. Helsing nodded to him.

“Go with him, he will take you to where you will remain until called” Helsing spoke, voice full of authority, then he spoke softer “Alucard”
