| THE RULES OF PENDLE WRITERS GROUP AS AMENDED APRIL 04 1. The general and financial management of the group will be vested solely in the founders of Pendle Writers. President � Mr Keith Hoare Chairman � Mrs Liz Cozens Secretary/Treasurer � Mrs Elizabeth Naisbitt Market Researcher � Mr Tony Leather 3. Should any matter arise that is not provided for in the rules, the Founders are empowered to settle such matters in the best interest of the group. 4. Any member may make their opinions and suggestions known to the founders who will do there best to appropriate members� concerns into the groups� activities. 5. Each member can submit a piece of work each meeting for reading to the group, they must observe that others may wish to read and therefore pieces should follow general length guidelines. If time allows at the end of the meeting members may read extra work. 6. Members may be asked to criticise and should do so faithfully and conscientiously without reference to the criticism of others, and without fear or favour. 7. Those who have submitted their work to the group for criticism must accept the criticism given and use it at their own discretion. 8. Any member who does not wish their work to be criticised must make this known before reading their work. 9. Members will respect the copyright of others and will not pirate other peoples� work. 10. To ensure that each member receives the full attention of the group during his/her reading all members are asked to refrain from ANY form of distraction, especially talking. 11. An annual subscription is required of �15.00 12. All members are asked to pay �1.00 at each meeting they attend. 13. The primary aim is good writing. 14. Rules for competitions will be issued separately as and when necessary and must be strictly adhered to. 15. Bio pages submitted to Keith or Liz must be proofread by the writer and must be morally written in order not to offend. Pieces of work can include all genres, anything explicit must carry a warning of it�s content to potential readers on a covering page. 16. Membership is non-transferable and non-refundable. 17. All work must be written in English and meetings are conducted in the English Language. 18. At the annual awards ceremony each first prize-winner will hold the trophy relevant to the category for one year. 19. Small trophies remain the property of the competition winner. 20. All trophies must be handed back to the founders one month before the awards ceremony each year and in a good, clean condition. Any damaged trophies must be repaired/replaced by the holder. 21. All major trophies remain the property of Pendle Writers, any member not renewing membership and holding a trophy must immediately return it to the group. Failure to do so will result in Pendle Writers seeking reimbursement. 22. All members are expected to conduct themselves appropriately at all meetings, if a member becomes increasingly offensive to one or all members they may be asked to leave. Minutes to be taken at each meeting by the secretary (or acting secretary) and all monies collected by the treasurer (or acting treasurer). Copies of minutes are available on request for 10p. An AGM will be held each year whereupon an annual report and a statement of accounts submitted. NEW MEMBER WILL RECEIVE TWO COPIES OF THE RULES, BOTH TO BE SIGNED, ONE TO BE RETAINED BY THE NEW MEMBER AND ONE TO BE RETURNED TO THE SECRETARY. ALL RULES WILL BE REVIEWED ON A YEARLY BASIS AND ALTERED IF NECESSARY, AT WHICH TIME MEMBERS WILL BE ASKED TO RE-SIGN THEM ACCORDINGLY.
