Welcome to another great year at LIFE School!
Dear LIFE Community:
I hope you had a fantastic break. We missed you all and are busily preparing for your return. In the upcoming days, your children�s teachers will send you a letter letting you know what�s in store for the year and what supplies you should bring on the first day. You can also call Eunice to find out.
For me, it has been another wonderful year at LIFE, and I would like to share with you some of the reasons why I am so proud of this school:
- Proven Quality: All of our teachers are highly qualified and very experienced. Using our approach in fostering our students' multiple intelligences, our students are given many choices. They are free to explore, discover, collaborate, take risks and grow up to be truly wonderful and caring human beings. Although we strongly nurture their social, emotional, spiritual, and physical well-being, we also strive for them to achieve academic excellence and thus have all the doors open to them in the future. This is exemplified in the success of our alumni in getting into fantastic schools (Colegio Maya, Aeronautics Academy, getting doctorates in the US etc.) as well as our current literacy rate. 89% of our students read at grade-level, which is simply unheard of in education considering the percentage of non-native speakers that we have. Very few top private schools in the US (those that require entrance exams and have long waiting lists) ever achieve this. The US national average is 64%. I feel confident that no other school in the entire region is providing such a top-notch education.
- Personal Attention & Stability: We're a family. Our teachers know your children extremely well and have provided them with a home away from home for years. We've been successfully educating and nurturing children for 18 years! Your children will graduate at the school they have known since they were little and will have teachers and friends up until 9th grade that have known them since kindergarten. LIFE School is full of wonderful old and new traditions that will become some of their favorite childhood memories: Assemblies, the Parade, Student Elections, Halloween, Christmas Play, Carnival, Valentine's Day, Environmental Week, Sports Tournaments, School Sleepovers, Literacy Night, Science Fair, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Theater Productions, Buddy-Reading, Field Days, Graduations, School Teams etc.
- Cooperative Structure: Of all the English-speaking schools, we are the only one that is non-profit and not run by owners. Your tuition money will always benefit the children and the school. As a member of the parent association, we encourage your participation and value your opinion. This is YOUR school!
- Full Accreditation: We have been fully accredited by the MINEDUC since 1991. Being accredited means that you can trust that a school has certified and qualified teachers and has submitted annual curriculum plans that were considered educationally sound. It also involves small but important details such as having an emergency and school-evacuation plan. We have many years of experience helping families choose and apply to schools both in Guatemala as well as abroad after graduation. We know what the process involves and what documentation is required.
