His impressment helped get Angelo out of a tough bind when he managed to get lost and damage his ship in the cold summer seas of the arctic. Vasiley had hoped moving north from the Black Sea would help him avoid such troubles, but he was wrong. He now spends most of his time helping repair the ship, giving orders to people smaller than him, and bothering Nathaniel Hess, the ship's reluctant doctor and cook. Figuring he has little chance of ever getting home, Vasiley is making the best of his situation and enjoying the life of crime. He hopes this pleasure won't be put to an end too quickly by his promotion as official soup-tester for his paranoid captain.
