Henry Rose
Name: Henry Rose (Rosey) Gender: Male Age: 35 DOB: 30 March 1770 Description: A tall man of average build with quick wits and superficial humor. He has long blonde-brown hair, ratted by the sea and bound back in a long braid. As a pirate, he wasn't as decorative as some, preferring what was most comfortable, just a pair of loose, striped sailor pants. More usually, though, he is a poor tutor in England that tries to dress according to the upper class without emptying his purse. Information: As a young man, Henry had the advantage of a wealthy uncle that educated him. He took well to Latin and was able to make a place for himself in society by tutoring others in the language and giving the impression that he was a gentleman rather than from a rather low peasant family. He was taken in to stay with the Pulliams family as a tutor in many subjects for their daughter Diana but had the disadvantage of wandering too near the docks some years later and being pressed to the Britsh navy. On the ship, Henry's lack of knowledge of sea etiquette and the physical skills required often left him on the wrong side of his officers so that when the ship was attacked by pirates, he rashly deserted to the enemy's ship. The notion of wealth and fame on the seas was too much temptation to ignore, and he spent some time in the Caribbean, eventually coming under the leadership of Serena Kraege on a ship called the Sandalwood. She seemed to be a very capable woman, though a bit cruel at times. As the coxswain, a skill he picked up out of necessity somewhere along the way, Henry often acted like the captain, deciding their course. He didn't get along, but even as a navy deserter, he finds loyalty a hard moral to shake off, especially when the consequences could mean his life. After the Sandalwood pirates were captured by the navy, he was saved temporarily by saying he had been pressed to the pirate crew under pain of death. He was later fully pardoned and returned to his tutoring by Dianas father, Captain Pulliams, though he had lost one of his legs in battle on the way back to England. Joining Diana, now an adult, on another journey to Gibraltar, he made his affections known to her, though not in tiem to sway her strong affections for Archie Kennedy, soon after her husband. Unfortunately, Kennedy died before able to return to England, leaving Diana with a baby to care for on her own. In a less than timely fashion, Henry proposed to Diana, and though she accepted, they later called off the event when Henry began to push for a date and Diana continued to reasonably mourn her dead husband. Henry has accepted a position teaching at a university in Exeter, a job he had to practically beg for due to his low position in society.
