Lieutenant William Bush
Name: Lieutenant William Bush (Wilhelm Busch) DOB: January 11, 1784 Age: 17 (now 21) Gender: Male Description: He is a tall, quick young man with long wavy brown hair. He has a long thin nose, as most Brits, though he is in fact 100% German, and big ears sticking out from under his hat. He has greyish-blue eyes that are deeply set in his thin face. Thin, thin, thin...Introduced as a 17-year-old midshipman serving on the Indefatigable, William was a bashful young man, having alienated himself early on in his service due to his heavily accented English. With much practice and influence, he largely speaks like a native now. Three strong German traits that remain, though, are his booming voice on the gun deck, his strong emotions--outward stoicism mainly a result of the service, and his tendency to flush red when he finally does smile or laugh. Information: William is from a poor German family who immigrated to England when he was very young. Having several sisters living off only his fathers income as a forester and mason, William went to sea to help contribute once he got to England. With the recent help of his late friend Archie Kennedy, William was able to get all of his family to England. After a short stay as a Spanish prisoner, he had begun to think of Master Archie Kennedy as a brother and mentor and also expressed his love of literature and strong respect for women. William had been over joyed when Archie and Diana had gotten married and heartbroken when his dear friend died, replacing him largely by chance. Very angry, he intends to avenge Archie's death-- in as painful and humiliating a way as possible. (He succeeded in this goal early in Chapter 4 and is now suffering the consequences...) On a high note, though, he has been made 1st lieutenant of the Surprise and married the lovely Sophia des Innocents, a good friend of Diana, just before shipping out.
