Archie Kennedy
Name: Archie Matthews Kennedy Gender: Male Age: 26 Information: The information regarding the manner of Archies birth is largely unknown, but he was found by a man named Brian Matthews, and was taken care of by his sister Margaret for the first years of his life. Once he was six years old, Brian brought him to sea to serve as a powder-monkey and learn the ways of Navy. Archie took to ship life very well, and was a very docile child in comparison with other boys. This was a relief to Brian, who hardly had to discipline him... A sharp word sent him into a sulk, for which he received further rebukes, and was eventually shedding tears. At least by the time he was a teenager Archie had shed most of his weak-nature and had developed a quick wit and a quicker tongue (which earned him quite a few beatings). He spent most of the time with his father and his friends, but spared himself to attend the Masters lessons on mathematics as often as he could- he wanted the advance past the state his father was in, not because of shame, but to make him proud, and it has been his goal for the past decade or so. His opportunity came when he found himself aboard the H.M.S. Agamemnon in 1788 somehow his father had remained with him thus far, and it seemed unlikely that there would be a ship he was in without him. He remained there under Lord Nelson until 1796 (received his rating as a midshipman when he was fourteen), fought in the Siege of Calvi (1794) and ended up in the sick-berth with a splinter wound in his leg. This gave him the opportunity to actually speak with the lofty captain- for he had lost his right eye-, and he was very inspired by what the man had to say. The need to advance was even more present now in Archie- and when he was sent to the H.M.S. Justinian he hit his first wall. A man by the name of Jack Simpson took personal interest in his career and although Archie tried to help Jack with his studies, was held back by the mans bad influence, and ended up failing his first lieutenants exam. Still, the Captain knew Archies skill, and promoted him to Masters Mate when he was 18. From there he has been climbing the ladder, and instead of trying for lieutenant, Archie eventually found himself testing for Master. His knack for trigonometry, courses, and sails aided to his advancement. He took his examination in the summer of 1804 and was passed. With luck on his side, Archie found a commission aboard the H.M.S. Restitution doing escort missions during the Treaty of Amiens. He is one of the youngest members of his position, and prays that it will lead to promotion to post captain one day. Now, something must be said for the adventure on the Indefatigable. Aboard this vessel- as a masters mate- Archie met William Bush, who he cherishes now as a brother, and Diana Pulliams, the woman he intends to marry. Archie has a promising career stretched out before him, but is currently trying to decide how to handle Dianas situation with her companion Rosey, and if he should introduce his soon to be wife to his father (who remains a bosun aboard the H.M.S. Restitution). After their marraige and brief honeymoon, Archie was seperated from Diana (did not write her for lack of anything to say), and joined the blockade at Toulon. Some shoreleave allowed him to meet another party from the story-- Nickolai, Gabriel, and David. He persuaded the three to go and help the Bush family escape Germany on the behalf of his best friend William. He also paid for their voyage. Died after being shot by Serena Kraege during a battle between the Restitution and the Dragon. Archie never lived to see his wife again after they were married, and knew nothing about the unborn child she carried. (check out that awesome rhyme) Later developments after his funeral revealed that the actual father of Archie Kennedy was Peter Pettigrew! ahem! Peter Dawson, Nickolai's father. Archie was born at a time that was not acceptable to the unwed couple (Mrs. Dawson actually being a woman of Empress Catherine's court), and his father lied that at birth Archie was born dead-- he wanted to protect both of their reputations. He then hid Archie away and took him with him on a diplomatic mission to Egypt-- where he hid the boy in one of the English Navy's wagons. Thus Brian found him. Therefore Nickolai and Archie were actually full brothers, and shared in both appearance and talents. ---- or did he die?---- ;)
