| Ok, I don't know if this will work, as I'm not good at telling stories about a band but I'll try, I'll try my best not to confuse anyone :-) Ok, here we go... History In 1996 Jason Wade (writer, singer, guitarist) founded the band with Sergio Andrade (bassist) under the name Blyss. Rick Woolstenhulme (drums) joined them, and on tours Stuart Mathis used to play with them, now Jorg Kohring, a German (yay!) is doing this job. The band is from L.A. (Cali). Jason started writing his own songs at the age of 12 (impressing, huh?), and he did that damn well, too. His music is influenced by bands as Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Paul Simon and The Beatles. Jason also has the black belt in Du Ye Chi Tao (whatever that is *lol*). He grew up in Hong Kong, Oregon, Seattle and L.A (where he moved at the age of 15). In L.A. he met Sergio Andrade who was his neighbor at that time and they started making music together. Sergio, originally from Guatemala moved to L.A. at the age of 14. He first played keyboard, then drums and finally bass. A drummer joined them (Diff, I think) but he later left the band. For about 2 years their concerts were rather small, but more and more peoplle came, up to 450. Ron Aniello heard of them and met them. The first recordings were made. The drummer Rick Woolstenhulme, born in Arizona, also heard of the band, that he met once already but it took him a while to remember them. The guys were pretty sure, they would be able to work good together. After working together for about 2 years, Jason played "Breathing" for Ron Aniello, and he was enthousiastic. His friend Jude Cole was also very impressed. He is now Lifehouse's manager. He contacted Dreamworks and the first demo tapes were recorded in the Dreamworks studios produced by Ron Aniello. Many of the songs were not changed much for the album "No Name Face" (Jason: "When we tried to re-record some of the songs for the album, we just couldn't get the same spirit the demos had...The demos had been recorded right after the songs were written and even though they weren't perfect, they were so real, so honest."). Like "Trying", Jason only had to sing it again, as his voice changed very much, he was only 15 (!!!) when the song was recorded in Ron Aniello's home studio. The rest of the album was mostly recorded in Aniello's studio as well, as it was right down the street from Jason's place. Their first single "Hanging By A Moment" was played over and over on raido, it is the most successful single in the USA in 2001... Ok, I guess that's pretty much info, ummmm, I'm also too lazy to write more ;-) |
