Rolls-Royce Corniche
The Corniche is the last Roller to come out of the historic Crewe factory in Englandthe home of Rolls and Bentley since 1946before BMW takes control of the company at the end of 2002. The very-low-production, last-of-line Corniches are unchanged for 2003 and are badged with the distinctive red interlocked R-R of the original Rolls-Royce motor cars. The 18-foot-long convertible gets its name from a road, la Grande Corniche, in Monte Carlo, and its chassis from the Bentley Continental coupe and Azure convertible. Its engine is a 6.75-liter turbocharged pushrod V-8 that puts out 325 horsepower and a stunning 544 pound-feet of torque, and the transmission is a four-speed automatic. Although the torquey mill can propel the Corniche from 0 to 60 mph in 7.6 seconds, the more-than-6000-pound ragtop handles like a minivan. But, hey, its a Rolls, not a Ferrari.
