| New class, most of the same crew, same lecturer but a few faces I haven't seen B4. I wonder if they've failed this subject previously and are repeating After our first class a few of us hit the Unibar for some drinks. This semester should be fun - well as much fun as assignments and tests will allow. OOPS! It was my birth day Sunday and for something completely different I ended up getting drunk. The bad part (apart from the hangover) was that I ended up missing a class Monday morning. |
| "What gives me the shits?" you ask. I'm glad you asked. I really really hate it when you've got some spare time in between classes or you go into town especially to to use the Computer Pool and it's packed full of people. This gives me the shits even more than some rude prick talking loudly on his mobile phone while everyone else is trying to work. "Anything else?" you ask. Strangely enough yes. The bigoted graffiti in the toilets. If this is any indication of our nation's future - be afraid, be very afraid. |
| 27/8/02 - Me and Nicola broke up so even if everything else sucks I should be able to put more time and effort into my studies. Time will tell. 8/9/02 - Things are starting to get interesting: I've got a small backlog of exercises to do and I just downloaded my assignment - all to be handed in by the 18th. PLUS our lecturer is still having trouble with getting his information accros to us. I'm sure he's a real "rocket scientist" with the subject - it's just that he can't teach it to us. It's a bit like a Surgeon trying to teach First Aid (it was so long ago he was a student that he's forgotten how to relate/teach to them/us). Maybe it's time for me to stop for a while and go down the coast for a surf (it's either a surf or a beer and a surf would be healthier). |
| Now it's no more "Mr Nice Guy" ! English is a second language for our lecturer (seriously) and it's starting to stress out some of the crew really badly. I know I'm going to pass this subject but the facts are that this subject could be so much easier if we could understand his english and didn't have to rely on asking each other about how to do the exercises and practicals. |

| 16/9/02 - On a strange note. Sada, our lecturer announced at yesterday's class that he was leaving for a better paid job in Melbourne. I've got nothing against the guy because I'm certain his reasons for teaching are genuine. It's just that we paid good $$$$$ to learn and his english is a bit shabby. I hope we didn't scare him off. In any case, I hope it all goes well for him and his family. I wonder who our next lecture will be. 18/9/02 - I had to go into Uni today to run off prints to hand in and kept bumping into almost everyone else from class - busy finishing practicals & assignments. In case you haven't guessed, today is the due by date. |
| 9/10/02 - We met our new lecturers for the rest of the semester. They seem OK but time will tell. At least it was a really short class and so it seemed like the right thing to do was go to the Unibar straight after class for the Happy Hour. |

| 28/10/02 - I got into Uni and burnt my assignment onto CD to take home and work on but guess what? I'm having trouble at the very beginning. It means I can only work on it at Uni where I can ask lecturers for help. The fucking assignment has so many files it can't even be saved in NTX. I can feel the stress levels rising already. Lotsa nights home working on it I reckon. 29/10/02 - Took dog for a walk and now time to start on it again. One of the things that surprised me the most about University is the lack of professionalism. The lecturers are professionals BUT they way they teach isn't. |
| 2/11/02 Another place I spend way too much time at is the Computer Pool. It's always crowded and it doesn't serve alcohol - honestly I don't know why I bother sometimes. Mari, me & Kerry working on our last assignment for the year. Mari helped me heaps through the year - thanx mate ! |

| 19/11/02 - It's over! Yeehaa! Now I wish I'd studied a bit more and not spent my time off walking along the beach with the dog and stuff. I know I'll pass but that's due more to excellent grades throughout the year/ Oh well, I'm feeling a bit fuzzy after post-exam drinks last night but now it's time to get back to the real world and go to work. The real world really does suck. |
