| Long, serious answer: To answer this you must first define what a "god" is. Most would say something along the lines of the all-powerful entity that is the creator of all that is and all there will be. By this definition my thoughts lean toward yes. The only problem with this is religion, faith and worship. These things dictate that the "god" as previously defined must again be defined as something ...more "human." Religion turns "god" into a perfect divine idol that is to be heeded and worshipped all on the foundation of faith. Firstly, this implies that "god" is a thing capable of rational and/or compassionate thought. Meaning that it knowingly has created everything and watches over it like a parent to its child. That is the "human" aspect i mentioned. Why not leave it at that? It is unwise to stop at the first answer that seems to work without checking the rest equally. As far as powerful entities that we have little to no knowledge of, the universe is a good example to try. Perhaps "god" is nothing more than a nebula unlike any we've seen and all that is, is because of the "big bang theory." stick with me here, i'm not some nerd shouting "science is god." But maybe its the other way around, maybe it's "god is science." Maybe the particles of the universe themselves make up the "body" of god. Think of it as cells and molecules make up us and everything we know. It could be that the galaxies are the "cells" of "god"? By this definition "god" could be either conscious entity or nothing but matter... nothing would change as far as religions and scientific theories go. But that's the problem, there is so much that "god" could be, to say one thing and that's it, is arrogance and ignorance. In just the question, "is there a god?" the answer is always yes because anything and everything is or can be god. is there a true god? if there truly is, then NOBODY knows the true answer. Faith is NOT truth, it is belief. Beliefs are theories. Theories are opinions. Opinions are ideas. Ideas are thoughts. Finally, to explain the short answer. its partly a joke, partly i want you to think about it. Everything in this world, especially in America, is controlled by time. life, death, and everything in between. |
