~*~ Chapter 89 ~*~
REDDING, CA – THE ANGEL’S HOUSE – JUL. 28th, 2002 – SATURDAY
“Thank you so much for coming. Thank you.” Kirstin thanked Tom, the last person leaving the wedding reception.
“Did you really think I would not come, K? Please. I couldn’t just not come. I helped a bit. At least, in the beginning, I helped. I’m sorry if I couldn’t be more helpful, but you know?” Tom pointed to Maryanne, his new girlfriend, a redheaded girl that was petite and seemed to be really nice, for the little while Kirstin and she had talked.
“But still, you didn’t have to and you did come.” Kirstin hugged him so tight “I love you, Tommy.” she whispered in his ears. What if Maryanne had a problem with that?
“Me too.” he whispered back and Kirstin thought that maybe Maryanne did have a problem with their friendship. But she let it go.
“And you, Maryanne, thank you too for coming such a long way for the wedding of someone you don’t even know.” Kirstin hugged her lightly.
“Oh, don’t mention it. If you’re friends with Tommy, you’re friends with me.”
“I’m glad to hear that.”
“And congratulations, man. You got the girl.” Tom shook Ashley’s hand.
“Well… yeah.” Ashley pulled Kirstin closer to him by her waist.
“But again, I always thought you would. I just wanted to make things a little harder.”
“And you did, man. Believe me.” Ashley smiled weakly. He and Kirstin had being through a lot and most of it was because of Tom.
“Hope you forgive me, dude.”
“Everything is in the past now, and what matters is what you said. At the end, I got the girl.”
“Good. So, we should go. Talk to you when you come back to New York, K?”
“Sure.” Kirstin smiled at Tom.
“Any idea when that will be?” he asked.
“Nope. I’m gonna try to keep her close to me as long as I can.”
“So, it might take a while.” Kirstin smiled into Ashley’s eyes.
“Ok, but call me when you do, alright?”
“Sure. Bye.” She kissed Tom’s cheek while Ashley kissed Maryanne and then they switched, Kirstin kissing Maryanne’s cheek and Ashley hugging Tom.
“Bye, guys.” Kirstin said and closed the door behind her “Oh, thank God! I thought people would never leave! What time is it now?”
“It’s 2:15 in the morning.” Grace announced as she and Mark emerged from the kitchen.
“What?” Kirstin raised her voice.
“Yep.” Mark just nodded.
“Oh, my God! We have an early flight tomorrow at 9! We won’t get any sleep.”
“Don’t worry, honey.” Ashley tried to calm Kirstin down “It’s a long flight to Venice. And we’re flying first class. You will be able to sleep a lot.”
“Good.” Kirstin kissed him on the lips “I have to get out of this dress.” Kirstin scratched her back.
“And we have to get out of here.” Grace informed. Now they were officially the only ones around the Angel’s house that were still awake. The Angel family had been asleep for a while and the Addams’ family had left an hour ago.
“Are you going to New York tomorrow?” Kirstin asked Grace.
“Yes. Why?”
“Do you think you could go over to my loft some times just to check if everything’s in order?”
“Of course. I was planning on doing that even if you didn’t ask me to.” Grace smiled at Kirstin.
“Thank you so much, G. You are truly the best. And you, Mr. Mulder, don’t you ever let her go, because you won’t be able to find someone better.”
“Kirstin!” Grace exclaimed, ashamed.
“Don’t worry, I know.” Mark grabbed her from behind and kissed her cheek. Grace smiled big.
“So, let’s go, baby. Let’s let these two sleep, they have a honeymoon tomorrow. Bye, you two.”
“Bye, Grace. Thanks so much for everything.” Ashley hugged her.
“Oh, that’s what a maid of honor is made for. Different from your band mates, who disappeared hours ago.”
“Oh, they have studio tomorrow morning, so Mike called telling them they had to leave immediately.”
“Oh, I didn’t know. Sorry!” Grace felt bad for bashing Ashley’s friend without knowing the right reason.
“Don’t worry. You didn’t know.” Ashley smiled at her.
“So… Congrats again, man.” Mark shook Ashley’s hand.
“Thanks. Again.” Ashley chuckled.
“Kirstin, congratulations to you, too. You looked wonderful.”
“Thanks, Mark.”
The four of them headed to the door.
“Bye!” Kirstin and Ashley said in unison and waved the couple goodbye as they drove off.
“So, now what?” Ashley wrapped his arms around her waist and she wrapped hers around his neck.
“So, now we sleep.”
“Sleep?” it was evidently the look of disappointment in Ashley’s eyes.
“I’m sorry, baby, but I’m really, really tired.”
“And you think I’m not? But still…”
“Oh, you think you’re more tired than I am? That’s impossible. I’m the one wearing these damn heels.”
“The damn heels I love so much.” Ashley sucked on her neck.
“Just because I’m taller, right?”
“Yeah… You’re like… my super model up there.”
“I’m not that tall! I’m just an inch taller than you.”
“Still, I can notice that and that makes me horny.”
“Ashley! Stop! We’re not doing it tonight and that’s final!”
“But I wanna do it tonight!”
“Please, Ash… we’re gonna have all the time in the world now.”
“Urgh…” Ashley wasn’t so pleased about it, but decided to give in, because he was too tired “Ok, ok. Then tomorrow it is.”
“Good. Now let’s go to bed.” Kirstin grabbed his wrist and they headed for the stairs.
They entered Ashley’s room.
“Do you realize it is our first night together as Mr. and Mrs. Angel, right?” Ashley asked.
“Of course.” Kirstin smiled while sitting in bed, getting rid of those awful high heels.
“I’m so happy.” Ashley sat next to her.
“Me too, baby.”
“Listen… this is forever. I promised you that, and I’m not gonna fail you.”
“Promise?” Kirstin took Ashley’s face in both her hands.
“I already did when I said the vows and the ‘I do’.”
“Oh, I love you so much.”
“I love you, too.”
And then they shared their most passionate kiss, not only as Mr. and Mrs. Angel, but as Ashley and Kirstin.
